seized or no seized?

I bought an 88 rx7 4 years ago, got drunk, wrecked it, sold it, and may be buying it back. The wreck was not bad at all just drove it into a ditch and bend the front bumper up some. Well when I sold it for some fast cash I sold it to a friend that put 720 secondaries new safc etc in it and took it to a mechanic and fixed lots of the vacuum leaks and stuff. Well he got it driveable for 3 days and brought it to his house on the 3rd day, turned the engine off, went inside and came directly outside to turn his engine on and bam now no start. He has been trying to fix it ever since to no avail. Now he is selling to me for trade on my computer (bad ass computer I built that I don't really want to give away for a car that doesn't run especially if it is seized). My question is how can I tell if the engine is seized or not? Any help would be greatly apprectiated! Thanks

i never heard of a rotary seizing...

how many miles on the engine?

Flooded

Doesn't sound like 'seizing' to me. When I think of seizing, I think of an engine that has not been turned on for like, four years and won't turn over. (Oil hardened, shite like that) Check the battery and alternator? Is there voltage when you turn the key on?

yeah they have bunch of posts about it but before I get this car I want to make sure the engine isn't seized and how to find out if it is or not.

if it's sized, it won't crank. At all. if it cranks, it's not siezed.

it really sounds like flooding to me...

hondahater 07-30-03 11:07 PM

oh yeah they have a post on here that says a guy only stoped it for like 3 hours and they came to the conclusion that it was a seized (bad) engine

hondahater 07-30-03 11:08 PM

someone said if I put it in gear and and rock it back and forth the belts and everything should move. if its seized they wont

vectorminds 07-30-03 11:08 PM

if you try and start it... or try and jump start it... does it turn over... if so its not seized :)

or you could try pull / push starting it

Well he says its a problem with something in the ignition at first he said old viper alarm then he said clutch switch? I don't know just need to go over to his house and find out if its seized or not and need a few quick ways to find that out thanks
