i was wondering what ways can i prevent from having my car stolen?

xxxbadassfoxxxx 02-27-03 12:00 PM

battery kill switch, fuel cut switch, alarm wouldn't hurt, lock your doors hahaha, and don't park it in the "bad part" of any town

Icemark 02-27-03 12:18 PM

Use the alarm, add an aftermarket alarm with back up battery, use a steering wheel lock, use a car cover.

Park in the garage at night.

Don't put in a high powered stereo that you don't turn the volumn down before enter a neighbor hood or mall parking lot.

Don't put fancy wings, 17"+ wheels, funky wing spoilers or standout fast and furious paint schemes on your car.

yea the more plain it is the less people will notice it, but if your car is loud anyway...like the exhaust everyone is going to see you coming and parking anyway

You can't.&nbsp You can DETER your car from being stolen, but there is no way you can prevent your car from being hooked-up to a tow truck or getting a gun stuck in your face...

I have a relay wired in to the 80A main fuse in the engine bay, and I ran the wires for my switch through the firewall and mounted it next to the front drivers side speaker(completely out of sight). The only bad thing is that I have to let my turbo timer turn off the car before I hit it.

how would you go about doing that.....it sounds like a good idea, and i would like to have some sort of kill switch so incase they do break in they cant get the car....can you explain how you did that a little more...
that would be great

are you killing the output of the 80A main fuse with a relay???

If so where did you find a relay rated that high

WookeysRX7 02-28-03 12:59 PM

Drifter101 02-28-03 01:15 PM

Poindexter10thae 02-28-03 02:42 PM

I found a 100A relay lying in the spare parts bin at my friends shop(he owns a full service automotive garage). he said that it probably came from CarQuest, who is their main supplier

Fitness Stain 02-28-03 02:57 PM

so how did you actually wire it??
i dont know a whole bunch about setting up relays...so treat me like a noob

T2 Tsunami 02-28-03 03:04 PM

Just set a spare magazine(gun) on your dashboard with a note stating "The other magazine is in my left pocket.....guess what's in my right!!!"
