SEARCHED! i know, aux port q's...

ok, so i installed my corksport header to my precilencer and 80mm catback today....

I was wondering a few things about the aux ports, i read A LOT of old threads but none answer what i want...

SO i noticed that on the rear of the engine, there is a hose that is split off the backpressure from the exhaust that goes into the LIM. and next to it there is a little bar that has adjustment in it, like a throttle linkage... I am confused as to what it is and what it does, also, if i was to wire all of the actuators open, how would i do that, they would be completely compressed on the right side of the engine, but im not sure about the one on the back side. any help would be much appreciated... i would like to figure this out asap! thanks..

(this hose is about an inch in diameter)

got any pictures?

The large hose coming off the split air pipe is for air fed in from the air pump through the ACV. The small hose that comes off of the tube feeds the aux port actuators. I can only assume the "linkage" you're talking about is the actuator assembly. If someone has removed your actuators, then the open position is with the arm fully down (the S4 actuators pull the aux ports open).

Wiring them is fine if you want a temporary solution to losing 25hp, but your bottom end will be crap. Tapping into the air pump and using an RPM switch & emissions solenoid is far better, and really not that hard.

Here's a shot of my aux port setup on my S4. You can see the small black hose that used to connect the split air pipe to the actuators is zip tied off. I've since removed the whole thing in favor of a setup w/ no split pipe since I didn't need it.

Thanks for the help RR...

I was referring to the hose that runs into the back of the LIM (REAR OF THE CAR)

This hose comes off the backpressure tube from the cat, and next to this hose there is a linkage of some sort, im trying to figure out what exactly that is... thanks tho.

ok, so i found a pic that shows what im talking about... this nipple has s linkage type thing under it, i am not sure what it does but i has two possitions.. what does this air pipe that runs to this nipple do?

you mean wiring as in keeping them in the open position? if thats what you mean than you would not lose 25hp, you would still have it but instead just lose bottom end which sucks yes.

It's a ventalation tube. It doesn't connect to anything.

Now I know everyone is entitled to there own opinion, but I don't notice any difference in driveability with them working or wired opened. I did notice a difference when I removed the actuators, rods, rod journals, and the dowel pin in the sleeve, yes I left the sleeve in with a pineapple insert, and it was a good difference. Driving it is just as easy.

do you know what the linkage beside that vent tube is for?

This is completely wrong. 7fold, I answered your question about that tube in my original post. It is the connection between the air flowing from the air pump and the split air pipe. Air flow is controlled by the ACV, as can be seen in the FSM. Without it, you will not pass smog (if you even have to), as your air pump will not be able to supply split air.

As far as my original comment on losing 25hp, I was talking about running a car without functional aux ports, or wiring them open. Of course people will claim not to feel any difference with them wired open (versus functional), but that's been proven wrong with dyno data. If it were the same, mazda would not have gone through the trouble to make such a complicated system to open them at 3800 RPM. I've run my car with them wired, and it's obviously worse on the bottom end.

You're probably looking at the rear aux port arm thinking it's unrelated. Most likely someone removed your actuators, so all you have now is a arm connected to nothing. Like I said before, down is OPEN, up is CLOSED.

no, i put on the aux port actuators and they are functional with air pressure...

on the back of the LIM there is a vent hose and some sort of bar that moves by hand to two differnt positions, trying to figure out what that is
