SDJ Header... Who's running one?
I have been researching headers lately and it seems that SDJ knows how to make a proper header. My question is though does anyone actually have one on their car? I know plenty of people run RB's or PS's, but does anyone have any experiece or dyno results with an SDJ header?

BanzaiToyota is I'm sure ;).
I'de just give it a try, it's better then nothing. Btw, I like you car. It seems to have alot of well plcaed mods. |
If I remember correctly, Banzai runs that header on his peri port AutoX car. I would ask him for dyno sheets. Just my .02 though.

Thanks for the compliment Jager:) I was hoping Banzai Toyota would chime in. I wonder if anyone else has it? I would love to be the guiny pig, but not for another couple months.

I noticed their prices have come down. Thats pretty cheap for a custom header. Last one I did took 10 hours....
Piping diameter looks a little large for a street car... |
I'm sure they can change the diameter, you just gotta ask before purchasing.

Anyone have a link?
hey 1990GTU i see youre running the rsr race and tokico blues, how is the ride? are the shocks having trouble keeping up with the spring rates? and did you have to take any extra measures with the camber in the back with the 2" drop? |
^^ The ride is really stiff, but tolerable. I drive my car quite a bit over varying road conditions and it works out ok, but potholes are evil.

Yeah the work that goes into these must be strenuous. Which diameter would be appropriate for max horsepower on my N/A? On the street I think a 1 3/4" or 1 7/8" would work a lot better for street driving... |
can u use the headers out on the street

There's the link to Banzai's site. And that should be the exact page with the headers on it. I also let him know that everybody is looking for him on here. :) Hopefully he'll post on here soon. Zach |
I'm here. For those of you that dont know, I have the rights from Stan L. to manufacture and sell his (SDJ's) Headers since Stan has closed his shops doors. We still use the same fabricators and Stan is still a consultant for continuing developments. I also Purchased SDJ's Stuska Engine Dynometer and I am in the process of getting the Dyno room built and the ventillation system installed. As I am at work right now, I'll ramble on more later. Thanks for the interest

I <3 this header, but it is a shame more people do not know about it.
|
It's a shame that I can't find anyone that used it or dyno'd it :(.

The last FC I owned had this header, and at the time I owned another with a RB header. The car with the SDJ felt like it had more power all around.
If I have the extra cash/time before I put on my turbo and my car is still stock, Ill pick up this header and a RB and take them to the dynno and see what they can do. |
We have dynod the headers. BUT my dyno does not have computerized data aquisition and load control (Rough Cost 15K). So my posting dyno figures (Which are just a mathmetical result of the strain gage reading) on this forum is useless due to the "dyno sheet police" (Who dont realize how easy it is to manipulate a dyno sheet)

Well post it up anyway lol.

what makes them better then racing beats
|
I got one in my car. It's the street version and I got it from Stan when he was still open.
I had the RB header before. Comparing the SDJ to it, SDJ has more power all around, expecially the top end. Sound on the SDJ is different too, it's deeper and more quiet. It kind of wails like the 350z exhaust instead of sounding like an angry bee. On the RB header, I had a magnaflow presilencer in place. On the SDJ header, I have a Borla XR-1 in place. |

btw, after going thru 5 tanks of gas, milage went up slightly.
With stock manifold and striaght pipe, I was getting 400km per tank With SDJ header, I am getting around 500km per tank for the last 5 tanks. |
