scoop on vert?

I have a 88 vert and i saw a scoop at the junkyard and was thinking about putting it on mine, because A. dont know where to get them and B. dont know how to make it, haha. so do you guys think a vert would look better with or without the scoop, thanks

First of all, Welcome to the Club! I've enjoyed reading all of your questions, you seem to be real exicted with your vert. I have the same car (88 vert).

To answer your question, most of the rx7 scoops are on the turbo models (TII). You and I have an n/a. On the TII the scoop serves a purpose, on our car it doens't so if you put one on it's just for looks. So if you like the look start looking in junkyards for a TII hood. You could also look in the "For Sale" section on this forum but remember shipping for a hood ain't gonna be cheap.

oh really.. haha thanks for telling me that. i thought it might give me a few hp. yes im really excited about it, because i barely see rx7 on the road and i can have a car that turns heads. thanks for welcoming me. i know a junkyard with a hood but dont know how much i should be expecting to pay

You think they're rare in NC try out here in AZ. In my area, just outside of Phoenix (Peoria) I have seen 4 convertibles in a 2 year time span I have had mine! How long have you had yours? I paid 1200 for mine and have put about 1000 into it and wouldn't trade it for anything. You should post a pic if you have a camera.

ive had mine for about a month, bought it for 2500. Drove it for one day then the next day the engine blew up on me, tsk tsk for me going 120 on the highway. haha. But I have gone through 2 engine replacement and they both didnt have no compression, but i found a engine with perfect compression, so i hope to have it back in a few days. im excited because ive learned alot of stuff about the rotary engine, knowing what i know now im guessin my first engine that came with the car had low compression and i thot it hauled ass then, so when i get the engine back thats in great shape wonder how good it will drive. i will post up some new pics in the next week after i get it painted. i was also thinking about putting a wing on there, think it would look right? also im having trouble finding seat covers that fit, did u get seat covers?

Do not put a wing on it unless you are going for the aluminum shopping cart look! And get better seats don't get seat covers!

Should you decide to put a wing on it, the 3000gt wing looks really good. Try looking at www.rotaryresurrection.com for scoop and wing.

I was going to say the same thing. the vert at rotary resurrection looks great with a wing!!!

just incase anyone was wondering I meant shopping cart wings. not something tastefull. ;)

fastrotaries 05-23-04 07:39 AM

if you do decide on a wing, please no park bench spoilers.

if you come accross a good condition t2 hood (the one with hoodscoop) in a junkyard...buy it. they are hard to find. now wether you use it or sell it or do something else with it is up to you :)

tell you a little secret...if you remove the rubber seal that`s located right under the hood when you open it(between front windshield and engine bay). You should get some nice cooling for your engine. ;)

I should mention that CP Racing at http://www.cpracing.ca sells fiberglass TII hood scoop replicas.
