On my 87 NA with 121K miles. I had this problem. I fixed this problem. A lot of people on this forum dont see how my solution fixes it, BUT IT DID!!! Beleive it or not. I drove the car to NYC, 1200 miles, NEVER once experienced the bogging under mid/heavy throttle at 3200-3900 rpms once in the trip.

I had tried everything on my car. Replaced battery/coils and ignitors/plugs/wires/tps/secondary fuel injectors. All this did absolutely nothing!!! I drained the gas tank. I added some battery grounds and this helped just a little bit but it was barely noticeable. I also replaced the exhaust system, to eliminate the possibility of it bieng clogged cats.

I fixed this problem by accident. After 2 months of trying stuff, I wired a high power stereo system on the car and decided to put a 1 Farad capacitor to help the stereo system amplifiers. VOILA!! the problem absolutely dissapeared and never reapeared. When I had this problem, the bogging down was absolutely horrible! And then when it was fixed it was like I had a brand new car.

Good luck M8

I got a battery cable that looks like this O--------------O all it has is two flat oval ends and some good 4 guage wire about 19 inches long ...that i connected one to my battery and the other to a good metal area on my car gone like a home run

Let me see if I understand this, so you installed this capacitor from your negative feed on the battery to your car's chassis? Did this replace your battery's ground? And this capacitor was called a Farad? Is this available at any car parts store? How much did it cost?

I have the nagging problem with my '91 n/a. I've learned to live with it. Haven't gone through the trials and tribulations you have. This would be great to solve the 3800 RPM hesitation so easily. If inexpensive, worth taking a try.

Let me know!
