Safe to run 245 on 7.5 inch rim?

I want to run a 245/40-17 on a 7.5 inch wide rim and want to know if this is a safe set-up.

Shouldn't this go in the Suspension/Wheel/Tire Forum?

Yeah probably! But since it's here; do you have any input? I'm looking for a quick answer!

Well, I have no experience with 7 1/2" rims...BUT on 8" rims, I've run as high as 245 width tires. Since you're running 1/2" less, I would say no. The reason is when I had them put on, the sidewall of the 245 was straight...meaning it was JUST enough to fit on an 8" rim...7 1/2" might be too much. a 235 width tire should fit onto a 7 1/2" rim since it's 1 cm less...
