Which SAFC , wideband tune ?

89 T2.....have intercooler, intake, full exhaust-w high flow cat, nothing else....not even gauges.
1.
Which SAFC? hks or apexi 1/2....the hks said it could handle spikes with a open air bov which is on my to do list so that sounded good. What do u think?
2.
I understand that a wideband is needed to tune it...or a egt(which I know even less about).....will the dyno shop have one or do I need to buy one and install it just for me? Never been to a dyno b4...
3. will the safc's give me the narrow band or will I need to buy an after market gauge?

Thanks a million

i am going to get the Apexi S-AFC and a second O2 sensor that s a wide band for proper tunig since i am still going to have my Stock ECU

a good wide band o2 system is $2000+ so find a shop that has one.

stick with the s-afc. 1 or 2 is fine as long as it's blue screen one.

step one get a boost gauge though!!!

You can build a Wideband setup for a lot less. It will be good enough for your task. Maybe not for labatory grade experiements:)

Take a serach for them on the net. I built an early version of the Techedge Unit. I am very happy with it. If you can solder and have a little confidence yon build it your self and save some coin.

everyone says s-afc but there are two---hks and apexi right??? Is one easier to install and better to use?? I don't care about price too much. just don't want to hack up my car.
hey Scott89t2 I have same name, year, model, color and wheels but would alsolike to get that lower front skirt...looks great...where'd u get it?

When ppl refer to the "s-afc" they mostly are talking about the apexi unit since its the unit we mostly use here.
For the most part its really easy to install and tune. But it must be tuned properly like at a dyno.
As far as neatness and such i mean yeah you can make it neat but you have to splice into the wiring harness at the ECU and your pretty much hacking up your wires to get it to splice right? So in so many words it does requier you to hack up your wiring to get it done. Its not like the HKS FCON for example that just plugs into the ecu. Its a lot better with more features but a lot more money.
