SAFC trick

Well I tried that idea that Mazda2ndgen had about removing the AFM an using an AFC to lean things in the lower RPM's on my friends 88 GXL and no luck the car still died under 2,000 RPM's if you didnt tap the gas.
Maybe if the SAFC couldlean things back more in the low end it might have worked.
Oh well it was a good idea from Mazda2ndgen to try this, I know if it would have worked it would have helped a lot of people.
See ya

this might be a possible solution. Hold the flapper door only about half way open or so. then you can use the 50% to get rid of the fuel, and if the door is half way open, and you tune down 50% then it would be like the door being closed. so then it might be able to idle. but, then you would have to use 50% in the other direction to make it as if the door was all the way open. but, then you will run lean, b/c i proved that wtih my motor. mabye some bigger secondary injectiors would help out. but if you got it to run past 2krpm, then maybe hold the door 75% open and try it. I dont knwo, just trying to throw out some ideas.

I guess we can try and see with those other ways tomorrow, Oh and hes got some 680cc secondaries so fuel shouldnt be a problem:)
Oh hey BTW where did you get that duraglass stuff from??
I've tried to fill my sides in with different things but dont turn out that good and crack in a few days...
Thanx let me know

cool, i really hope this works b/c that would be a potential big mod.

about the duraglass. I looked in the phone book under bodyshop repair supply. and i called several differnt places adn all of them had it. the cheapest i found if for was 30bucks a gallon. its kinda pricy, but the stuff really works good. its acualy a marine type filler. like i said before, ive had it on my car since about july, and have had zero problmes thus far.

Kind of a crazy thought (though mabye not as crazy as what you are already doing). What if you used 2 MAFs in your intake and had both wired in so they gave voltage for each of their flows and then used SAFC to fine tune it? If it worked it should be half the restriction of stock and I believe I have heard of a newer 300Z having something similar done. Just a thought...

What we really need to do is find the resistance of the MAF @ certain levels of being open and place those resistors directly into the harness, then we could tune the AFC accordingly. Bigger injectors in the secondaries would work for the upper range since the computer still thinks the 550 are in and the pulse width, would remain the same otherwise. this would help out since up top, since the SAFC wouldn't not compensate the richness @ idle. I think we're on to something. ?????
