S5 UIM swap clarification

ive been doing some research about the swap and i think i still need some help. I was wondering what i excatly i have to do ... cause i have someone about to sell me the upper and lower mani's with a ported tb ... so would i just use the upper and tb (assuming the dynamic is connected) and justfind the rest of the stuff, like the fuel rails, BAC, solenoid?

i heard icemark saying something about port matching the UIM to the LIM?

is there another write-up besides the one at

http://homepage.mac.com/carldavis/intake.html

its a good write-up but its main goal was to keep the car as stock as possible... and im already starting out with a streetport/intake/exhaust

Thanx

I've found the the S5 lowers are usually gasket matched extremely well for a stock part...

the uppers, however... dunno why, but they are usually pretty off, but nothing is as bad as the FD uppers.. JEZUS, you should see the pile of chips after I get done gasket matching an FD upper...

Unless you are removing your MOP and going pre-mix, you do not want to use the S5 throttle body, but rather modify the S4 throttle body to work.

As far as the port matching, yes you want to port match the UIM to the LIM

Why? So what's wrong w/premixing on an s5? I'm probabally missing a little something importaint here...later:)

The s5 has the electronic OMP, whereas the s4 is driven by the throttle position, mechanically via a linkage. The s5 throttle body doesn't have a provision for this linkage.

also note the s5 tps sensor is alot different than the s4, not sure if hte tps will bolt up correctly!

It doesn't but you can use one of the two re-wired and readjusted to work if you need too.

Also.. if you remove the MOP on an S5, the ECU will go into LIMP mode..

well im not planning on going premix. what needs to be done to the TP to work with the S5 UIM??

also whats the process in port matching?

sorry about all the questions but someone i know is trying to get rid of the parts for this swap (i dont know what he has, he said UIM,TP,LIM but doesnt know about the rest) so im just trying to understand what exactly i need to do before i buy it from him.

theres nothing really in the archives about in exact process, theres other topics that are related but nothing that gives it direct focus. Just because my post count is low it doesnt mean that i dont know where to look or how to search... thats how i found the write-up i posted in my first post.
