s5 TPS question

Hey my friend wanted to know if the S5 TPS automatically adjusted by itself or if you have to adjust it manually.

If you put a new one in, I *THINK* your have to initially adjust it per the FSM. Once you do that, then according to the FSM, it is self adjusting.

I have no series five, but the FSM makes honorable mention of how it is self adjusting. In my mind though, you have to initially adjust it to the FSM for that to be a reality (self adjusting).

Actually if you have a meter, you can go to the ECU and check the narrow and full range readings at the ECU with the key to ON. The FSM gives the values in the Fuel Seciton for what is a good reading. It's in the sub section called Input/Outputs.

In other words I don't THINK you can just buy one and plug and play..........initially.

Pin 2F on the ECU is for the NARROW range and it should read approx 1vdc at IDLE.

Pin 2G is FULL range on the ECU and should read 0.8vdc at idle and if the engine is fully hot and key to JUST ON, and you fully depress the pedal, the Pin 2G should read approx 4.3 vdc.

Meters are cheap and easy to use and put ones mind at rest. So go drive the car and fully heat it up. Then go to the ECU and backprobe those wires above with the connector on the ECU. Your results should be what is written above.
