S5 O2 sensor wiring (noob)

Got an s5 recently that didnt have an O2 sensor in place. picked one up and now I dont know for sure where the wire is supposed to be plugged in to. :wallbash: I looked @ the FSM but that wasn't specific enough for my liking.

Can anyone tell me where I'm supposed to wire this thing?! Pictures would be nice if possible!

Factory Service Manual shows this: (notice plug on end)

The sensor I bought has a bare wire at the end. Hope that helps clarify things.

that would be because you need to solder the electrical plug from the old 02 sensor (which i realize you don't have in this case) maybe try to find soembody with a parts car and get that plug. then i dunno if it's stock, but mine comes right around the front of the motor by the air pump.

Unfortunately, this car is definitely not stock. That adds to the complexity of the situation. Also, I'm not really that versed with these cars so I dont really know how to describe what I'm talking about.

I have a picture that I took to show what I'm looking at. The O2 sensor wire is shown by the green line and is not currently hooked up to anything. I was wondering if the plug circled in red might be what I'm looking for. It seems to be about teh same size as the one shown in the FSM.

is the wiring harness unmodified?

revolut10n 04-13-08 03:17 AM

not sure really, the previous owner swapped in a JDM engine so I'm not sure if that necessarily means it's modified or not.

hmmkay. well the reason i asked is i can check where the 02 sensor wire goes into the main harness on my car, and then maybe you could find it that way. I'll take a look this afternoon, and let you know.

thanks for the help, appreciate it! Since I dont know for sure I'll go with it being stock or relatively stock.

so sorry i totally forgot to look at it yesterday! :wallbash:

but i did today :) and the connector goes around the back of my air pump, and then is really hard to follow. but it looks like it goes into the main harness near the tps. i did take this picture:

Thanks a bunch for the follow up! :) I did find it on my own actually. I found that the easiest way to find it was to locate the BAC solenoid and then look down (pretty much) plug looks the same though so I guess I got it right!
