I just put a silencer in my straight pipe fart cannon...

are-ex 03-22-11 08:36 PM

sounds good leave it

thegreenarrow 03-22-11 10:40 PM

I don't mind that. but I couldn't tell you without listening in person, sounded like my dynomax and gutted cat.

SpikeDerailed 03-23-11 12:00 AM

Corksport header(thin tubing) -> test pipe -> ebay chinese catback(3" piping to 4" outlet).

oh shit! my roommate with a leaking exhaust in a gutted(including sound deadening) s13 doesnt wanna ride in the thing without the silencer in and as closed as she goes.

nycgps 03-23-11 12:48 AM

Now I wonder if I use Turbo Housing on NA, how loud would it be ?

mxrider914 03-23-11 01:57 AM

I'm running open downpipe on my T2 swap because I can't afford exhaust yet and it is retarded loud. If get on it through a couple gears my ears start ringing.

wjk0817 03-23-11 03:03 AM

Sounds gorgeous , how's the flames at night?

theflatlander 03-23-11 06:07 AM

Buddy you dont know what loud is. I ran RB roadrace header to straight pipe with a summit racing muffler with my streetport n/a for yrs.

JohnFC3S 03-23-11 01:00 PM

You should have heard my car with a PT-61 turbo and straight through 3" exhaust. You literally could not hear anything else if you WOT and forget talking on the phone.

Templeton 03-28-11 03:20 PM

idle is a bit loud but sounds phenomenal up high!

When I had just the RB true duals header and presilencer, nothing else after the presilencer. Had to drive like this for a month, and damn thing was loud and annoying. Wakes me up though while driving 7 in the morning lol and my neighbors.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lrrG6v_i6g
My first ever true dual setup
RB true dual headers to a pair of Dynomax ultra flo, that shit was loud without a presilencer. Month later bought a RB presilencer and installer it.

Gotta love the true dual exhaust pulses :)

dwb87 03-28-11 05:52 PM

I think it sounds pretty good jjwalker.

Thanks :)

I have good responses from people in person....my particular favorite was "Every fucking small car should sound just like that!".

I am liking it.

Nice and blue. Love it :)

slow_Fc3s 03-29-11 04:05 PM

i dont think i would mind that... sounds good! do you know what the part number on those magnaflows were?? i just might go cop some

fidelity101 03-29-11 04:15 PM

RB street header, RB pre silencer, ebay 3" catback

this car is also S5 streetported and carbd, turbo inserts.

Just tried my friends exhaust on, it was waaaay too loud.

I'm curious to put it back on now for a race event because I got rid of the presilencer and run RB street duals (not true duals) a 2.5" test pipe 304 stainless to the RB street header.

They are technically "glasspacks" but they are stainless steel packed, no fiberglass and are perforated core, so little to no restriction. You might want to get the longer ones though, I guess that depends on how loud you want it to be.

raksj04 03-29-11 04:42 PM

reminds me of the time when i did my turbo swap and had a the RB down pipe on an a flowmaster delta 40 on my car. dad walks into the garage and asks when i was going to put the muffler on. i relpied the muffler is on.

LOL! "the muffler is on"

Damn, long time no post.

I just crammed a presilencer in the cat "delete" pipe to get rid of the chain saw noise. I just recently threw the cat back on because I am coming up for smog inspection, so I don't have a video yet.

Once I have a video of the now silenced cat delete pipe, I'll post back up.

pontiackid 02-19-13 08:44 PM

"No radio, can't here the damn thing anyways."

LMAO!

Ain't that the f$&king truth!

I still haven't got her inspected yet, but once I get the smog done and the new silencer on, I'll post a video of non-loaded revving, and another of actual driving.

It always sounds different when the engine is loaded.

Keeble 03-03-13 11:46 PM

Well, now I know who drive the white vert I keep seeing

and I'm always in my truck going the opposite direction

hollowfikation 03-04-13 01:04 AM

I have a s4 na w/ an aggressive street port, stock exhaust diffusers, RB road race header, aeroturbine resonator and fart can muffler......very loud, can't hear yourself think, makes your ears ring/bleed ....was hoping the resonator would help...I was wrong. I will be redoing my exhaust very soon lol.

Theres a very significant difference I wouldn't recommend it unless your building some monster port race car

those exhaust port diffusers do wonders

Munari 03-04-13 01:03 PM

That actually sounds real nice! My car was stupid loud as I had it with rb road race header, straight pipe all the way back to two mufflers with no name but sounds good haha. But after about 3500 rpm you could not hear anything else but the exhaust, was impossible to talk or think!

HOZZMANRX7 03-04-13 08:04 PM

What did you say?

jjwalker 04-01-13 05:10 PM

So, I finally got the presilencer on. Never have to smog her again either!

Sounds wonderful.

The best way to describe it, it's mellow and deep at low rpms, but as soon as the secondary ports open, you start getting that race car sound, but without the chainsaw noise rotaries like to give.

I freaking love it.

If it isn't raining like crazy tommorow (it might) I'll post a vid.

I also like that we have another rotary head in Rockwall.

Better do a flyby, too. Just for good measure.

clokker 04-01-13 07:06 PM

I think it's interesting that everyone talks about how loud (or not) their car is but no one mentions whether the exhaust is actually helping/hindering power.

Presumably, y'all's dream vehicle would be an unmuffled Harley.

Doesn't really help power at all in the bottom end, but helps immensely 3.5k and up.

I have no header, just manifold. From what I've been told, adding a header will give you more power, but it isn't worth the noise. I don't mind loud, but I do not like the chainsaw noise. Ain't worth it.

jjwalker 04-02-13 02:08 PM

So here is the first video. I have a second video of my actually driving.

jjwalker 04-02-13 02:50 PM

Driving in the car...

jjwalker 04-03-13 09:14 AM

so, what do you guys think?

Hatchet Jack 04-03-13 09:35 PM

Sounds smooth from the videos! What diameter pipe is this?
