S5 NA->T2 Swap w/ AC - Pulley Issues?
 

Hey folks. I've done some extensive searching and can't really find anything definitive. Most people here doing swaps seem to just delete Air conditioning.

I pulled an S5 TII and am in the process of installing it in my S5 GTU. The TII came with the NipponDenso AC compressor.

Before removing the NA engine I made sure to retain the Sanden compressor with all of the lines and refridgerant intact. However, With the new T2 engine in the car I'm noticing that the Sanden compressor doesn't line up with the Tii AC/PS pulley bracket that I kept on the Tii engine.

I know the compressors and lines are different between the NipponDenso and Sanden, but is the AC/PS pulley and bracket *also* different such that I need to go find an NA Sanden-style bracket? Am I missing anything else?

yes the brackets are different, the good news is that there are only 3,

the non PS bracket, the ND A/C bracket, and the Sanden bracket.

its should be really easy to find the one you need, basically if its a non turbo with p/s, its the right one

typically its as simple as the S5's use a sanden bracket and the S4's use the older denso one. i'm sure there is a split point but it appears that they really just made the change over along with the 89 series 5.

As the above poster confirmed, S5 T2 came with a different compressor, different AC/PS bracket than S5 NA.

the fact that the brackets have power steering or not has nothing to do with whether or not the sanden or denso compressors fit them.

actually his information is incorrect, because the non turbo S4 and non turbo S5 have different brackets whether they have power steering or not. j9fd3s is almost always correct, but in that case he is not.

methinks you're just trying to jump on the bandwagon from that other moronic thread, in which case we can play this game all over again if you all want.

i looked it up in the parts catalog.

for S5 it shows:

N326-15-910B Turbo, w/ Japan make A/C
N327-15-910B GTU, GTUS, GXL, conv

for S4:

N326-15-910B Turbo w/ Japan make A/C (i think there is a typo because it says no PS, somehow it has PS in 89...)
N327-15-811 Turbo w/ Japan make A/C (it says with PS, but i think they mean without)
N327-15-910B GX, GXL, sport, SE, and it does say turbo, but i think they all ended up with ND A/C

but still, there are only 2 brackets with PS, and the sanden one is far more common in the US, although every JDM car will have the denso system.

Mazda does port installed A/C a lot, there is some tax and or environmental thing. most Mazda's up to at least 2003 have port installed systems in the US

cept the Jspec never had a non turbo S5, so there is that little part. i was referring to parts available within the country of origin. well that and someone calling me out as spreading misinformation.... when there wasn't any. maybe someone has imported a S5 with a denso on it, but i have never seen one. there is uerospec non turbo S5 but why does this have to now get overcomplicated? it really doesn't have to be, because it isn't.

i do have an idea though, go buy a bracket that someone is parting out from a sanden unit, or buy a late model USDM bracket, probably because they're the same thing.
