S5 NA complete block off????????

what can i block off? is there already a thread that explains this...

I already have the vdi blocked, six ports wired open, omp blocked, is there anything else??? all the rats nest and the charcoal canister stuff us gone. what about the valve on the middle intake manifold?? can i wire that open??

Is your goal to make the car slower? If not, you should put the VDI valve and aux. port actuators back the way they're supposed to be.

br4nd0n 05-27-10 12:27 AM

please explain how it will make th car slower? i know it will lose torque but we don't need that?

rx-7 obsessed 05-27-10 12:29 AM

you sir need to do some more reading. is your car modified at all such as a large street port? if the answer is no you have lost alot of your low end power. wiring the 5th/6th ports open is the worst mod you can do to a stock motor. unless your running some huge port or its a race motor and never sees 4000rpm or less you will loose all fuel economy all low and hosepower and torque and really just make your car slower

Torque x RPM = HP

less torque = less HP

lol or that much easier explination

br4nd0n 05-27-10 12:57 AM

so fresh stock rebuild should have the vdi, six port actuators, and air pump??

rx-7 obsessed 05-27-10 01:17 PM

bingo

br4nd0n 05-27-10 01:54 PM

this disappoints me im a sad panda now

no_luck 05-27-10 02:27 PM

lol unless you pull the sleeves out and do a turbo uim and lim and turbo tha shit..
cause isnt a 6 port almost a streetport? in other words if you modified the 6port and took the divider off from the big hole and the little hole youll have a street port?
did that make any sense im having a hard time explaining stuff today

br4nd0n 05-27-10 02:32 PM

kinda, sounds good but the s5 na is my girls car and it is a fresh rebuild with no miles on it.. I have the manifolds but im not sure that turbo is the way to go for this car that means different ecu which in turn equals more monies..

no_luck 05-27-10 04:15 PM

then keep everythign WROKING... keep the smog pump and all that.
unless you have a different exhaust and dont have cats.
then you need to modify the airpump or do something

br4nd0n 05-27-10 04:40 PM

ya its a full custom 2 1/2 all the way back came with the car..fuck it who cares about torque not me and 15mpg sounds great, no vdi, no air pump, six ports welded open and no bac this car is going to love me for it later. I just need to finish this to get started on project 13b-msp s5 vert its gonna be great ill probably start a build thread eventually....

mods close plz..

no_luck 05-27-10 05:37 PM

bro thats the worst idea ever...
my verts 6port dont work and im making 100 hp.. thats horriable
torque is what gets you going... hp is what keeps you going...
a car with no torque will take off slowly .... so in other words tthink geo metro ..

rx-7 obsessed 05-27-10 06:28 PM

a streetport and 5th ports are too different things...the best way to epaline it is like vtec in a honda(i know say what u will) at 3800 rpm the sleeves start to open making the intake port bigger....thus changing the timing of the motor due to port size

no_luck 05-27-10 06:42 PM

its exactly like vtek considering vtek just adds more air into the combustion.

but what i was tring to say was if i have 6 port side plates and you take the sleeve out and cut the divider out and make one LARGE port and shape them. wouldnt it be equivalent to a LARGE ass street port.
add t2 intakes and wouldnt make for a bad ass motor? sorry to thread jack and go kinda off topic

rx-7 obsessed 05-27-10 06:48 PM

i cant answer that seems like it would just be one massive ass port. that would deffinatly be one hell of a street port

It's so much more than just losing power under 3800 RPM from the wired aux. port actuators. With the VDI removed, intake runner length is permanently shorter than it should be, which means power loss under 5200 RPM as well.

See line a? That's with the VDI open. Now see line d? That's all the power you're missing out on. The VDI system gives you the best of both worlds: long at low to mid RPMS, short at high RPMs.

you know...ive heard good and bad from all of this...and guess what..its time to put it to the test..ive learned from this forum that there is no definitive answer to all problems, and ive been doing this about 10 years now, build many 600+hp turbo engines. btw im the one that built this engine in question...ill give everyone a for sure answer as to what you exactly lose by blocking the vdi and ports open...to the dyno batman, brandon we need to get gearhead to open up shop so we can get free dyno time again

why put something to a test that has already been proven? you don't need a dyno to see the results of blocking off vdi and wiring the ports open. drive a car with it then drive one with it all blocked off i will guarentee you that you will feel a difference.

turbo engines are different than 6 ports.

i think everyone in this thread said something bad about blocking off the ports so i'm not sure where you are getting the good at.

Gurew 05-28-10 01:26 AM

i actually have driven cars with it on and then with it blocked...i noticed a very minute difference in low end power, notice was so minor that it wasnt bothersome at all...ill report back with dyno and gas milage results with both :) keep in mind this isnt your 140,000 mile avg engine that you try to "honda" fix because it has low compression already....its brand spankin new ;)
