wow now that i read that over again i sound like an idiot...

what i was told that would be the best way is to buy a blown up tii motor, and then simply just swapping over the turbo parts



i wasn't plannin on buyin that turbo kit...it sounded wayyy to cheap

my goal is to stomp on my buddies integ

If you can find a blown TII car, it makes life absolutely easier. Otherwise you can just start sourcing parts to do the poor-mans TII conversion on your existing engine. Ideally it'd be the following, all of which can be stock TII parts and be picked up for pretty cheap. The hardest part is modifying the TII LIM.

TII AFM/ECU/Boost sensor
TII LIM/UIM/TB, and either a TII throttle cable or modify your setup to use the N/a cable
Upgraded fuel pump of any type
Turbo (and lines)
Downpipe
4x550 injectors
Intercooler/BOV/piping
Clutch

Dont really need the T2 ecu,afm,map sensor because then he would be required to run the knock sensor as well which could be a pain if you don't have a tap for it

run an emanage or standalone they both allow you to retard timing for boost

you will also need T2 Fuel rails

it can be done in a weekend very easily

you will need to get a T2 hood or at the very minimum vent your hood as the n/a hood won't close with the top mount intercooler

you'll be able to stomp him with 4 psi lol

You can run the TII EMS without the knock sensor, it is not necessary.

alright everyone has different things on what to get..

essentially i need the following to upgrade my car to a turbo

TII AFM/ECU/Boost sensor

Pretty much, you can get by with the stock N/A ECU/AFM/Pressure sensor, but it's FAR from ideal and is the most likely to fail, especially if you do anything other than running the wastegate straight off the turbo.

I hope you do not take offence by any of this but I do want you to ask your self the real reason behind you wanting to do this, and also what you plan on doing to make the car stop and handle to support the added power.

You don't need the vented hood (and some theorists claim that it actually reduces airflow through the FMIC) if you're running a front mount intercooler. If you're running the TMIC then you need a TII throttle cable. Other than that the list looks good.

nillahcaz- what you say is right, especially on how people like to put more into their car then they can handle... i dont take any offense to anything that you said, but what im lookin to do now, seeing that its winter time, is start buying parts to make my car a turbo, i wouldn't start doing the project till probli mid to late summer so that way i can get a more feel for the car than i did this year. Another reason is that im lookin to put a turbo in the car is because i've loved this car since i was a kid, and i wanna do it best as i can performance and looks wise because i plan on keeping the car for awhile, and hopefully in 2 years ill be able to buy a 3rd gen and do the exact same thing to it


yeah a lot of people are dumb and dont respect anything and end up killing themselves or hurting themselves badly, it may seem im the same way as to what i've been typing but i've been raised real well on respecting things, i still respect my fourwheeler a lot just because i've seen what it's done to my friends (paralyzed from waist down and such)
so dont think that im doin this to attract any girls, or to get new friends or anything...

my biggest problem is that im unsure of what parts i need to get, so thats why i originally started this thread to see what i could get best for my money...

i found kits on ebay for 800 bucks and found out that it was junk, it sounded too good to be true when i saw it but at least i wanted your guys take on what its worth

That's kind of far reaching for such a vague comment. In this regard, any performance upgrade is done for a wrong reason, as essentialy you want to be faster (be it than another car, or than the car is already).

Are you saying every race car driver in the world is inexperienced and immature? I realize you weren't trying to offend anyone (and i'm certainly not), but it seems extremely generalized off of such a simple comment. Without knowing his precise application of the upgrade (ie, if he's going to be chasing his friend down the local interstate at 140+), it's really not a position that easily judged.

As to the first part, the rotary performance/fab sections are a lot better.

As to the latter, If you are racing to prove your cars worth then yes. This mentality is why I'm not a big fan of drag racing, too much time talking about the cars but as always there are exceptions. My biggest local hero in auto cross is thinking of moving up to SM or maybe E-Prod as he is no longer challenged in STS after stepping down to a non turbo neon, He NEEDs more car to keep the challenge.

I think you misunderstand what I said* I was real sleepy and did come off a little strong* and started taking it to far, But it sounds like the OP understands my post.
