S5 N/A max horsepower?
I was thinking of getting a N/A FC, since Turbo II is out of my budget range. I checked out the specs in the faq and it states 160HP for the NA. Just wondering if anyone can give me a ballpark estimate of the potential of the NA FC after mods. Thanks!

if your aim is for power then save for a turbo model. those who say n/a is fine either do not have or never have driven a well tuned turbo rotary, those who have had a turbo rotary and went to n/a likely had bad personal experiences with it since turbo rotaries need to be done up properly or they wind up a chunk of useless metal. for power, max is about 200RWHP while keeping it streetable but cost for that power is ~$3k-4k so imo turbo power is cheaper in the long run.

well im not positive of what i have for hp right now, but my mods are..S5 GXL stage 2 street port, RB headers/presilencer into dual apexi n1's, intake, 550cc (T2) secondary injectors, apexi s-afc, centerforce light weight flywheel (13lbs), and centerforce clutch and pressure plate. im guessing im puttin down somewhere between 205-220hp. ive raced my friend who has a 98 bonneville, 205hp stock and he has exhaust and intake and other minor things, and i can beat him everytime. but my car has some problems so i could be even faster than what i think. ive also beatin a chyrsler crossfire (not the supercharged 1) just a reference

^^Take it to a dyno. I bet it's quick for a n/a, but I dont see it being anywhere near 220 rwhp.

why do you need an S5? what's wrong with the S4?

Because S4s suck! Didnt you get the memo? Limp mode FTW!

i cry every night because i didnt buy a s5, how about you J-rat?

Yep, I cry every night..

edited my post with some more helpful things to think about ^

guessing im puttin down somewhere between 205-220hp. i just ordered the Zeal megasquirt because man, SAFC's suck for tuning. You can't even control spark. |
yep, the timing is rather tame with the stock ECUs, it is basically the only reason many more people have not popped their motors with all of these upgrades getting tossed around now. just installing a standalone can usually net about a 10%-20% or more increase in power.

what do you run Karack in the quarter mile? mine had about a 5th of that stuff and i ran a 14.9 @98 mph you think you are close to that?

S4 N/A max horsepower, w/o rebuild and emissions legal?

I am perfectly happy with an NA FC. It's not as fast, but it's not slow by any means. I was running on low compression too. putting in a good S4 block and just got my ports working along with some weight reduction.I imagine I'll continue to enjoy my FC in NA form. All My FC has for mods are open axhaust. The S5's VDI made a significant difference over my S4 cars performance though. |
i've heard of someone making 195rwhp with alot of work.

N/A is slow without insane ammounts of money. Just save up and go turbo, or do all the cheap bolt on mods and get a few extra HP.
