s5 acceleration problem
Hey guys I have 1990 s5 NA and I'm having an issue. My car spits and sputters and has no power at lower rpms. I have to rev up to 4grand plus just to move it. When I put my foot into the pedal she stalls out. I've tried replacing mass air flow sensor and my next is the tps. Anyone got any ideas? I also just had new exhaust gaskets put in. Any info into this would help greatly. Thanks in advance.

MIL codes? Vacuum leaks? TPS adjusted correctly? MOP failure?
|
I checked the mass air flow sensor. What is mop? I have check engine light on but no one 1 scanner to read the codes. I've been checking for vac leaks but haven't found any yet. Again thanks for your help.

MOP could cause the engine not to want to accelerate at low rpms? Crazy thing is it does the the 3500 cold start perfectly and then idles down to 750. However when I pulled the air filter and pushed in the maf sensor the motor dies.

Thank you for that link I'll check out the ecu tomorrow.

Limp mode

How do I get it out of limp mode?
|
There's a CEL Decoding method somewhere on here. I'd check that out first. It could also be your TPS as mentioned above.

It is most likely the OMP/MOP.
It will start and idle fine but die as soon as you put it under load. Perform the tests in the FSM for the OMP. You can download an FSM with the FAQ. I can sell you a 6or 7 year old OMP with low mileage on it for $700, or you can buy a 22+ year old one for +-$50 in the parts section. You should also put in a good used ECU with it. OMP is known to take out the ECU, and then the bad ECU takes out the new OMP. You can open it up and look for two bad resistors. |
hmm I actually have an s5vturbo rtek ecu. could I get away with disconnecting that pump and premixing? by disconnecting that pump will it alow me to drive my car?

Please search, you're asking questions that ave been answered many times over. Also, there's more than 1 type of RTek.
