s4 temp gauge in s5 instrument cluster

Hi everybody!

Since the s5 temp gauge is well known to only have 3 stages (cold, normal, too hot) I'd like to put a s4 gauge in there since they are a little bit more informative. Anybody done this or any experiences (switching cables needed or anything)?

thanks,

Harry

well my stocker s5 guage has more than 3 stages...but it'd prolly be better/easier to just buy an aftermarket water temp gauge. Not to mention prolly a lot more accurate than even the s4 temp gauge.

like reatrdedspleen said, its ALOT better to get an aftermarket gauge. the S4 stock one isnt exactly world renowned for its accuracy either. i would reccomend autometer, they are very reliable, have a warrenty, and are inexpensive and easy to come by(you can get them at local shops or from jegs/summit, etc). a reliable aftermarket gauge will save you alot of headache :)

Also the S4 gauge has a completely different shape then the S5, so even if it does just bolt in you will have to modify the face and end up with one weird gauge. You will also need to chance the sender at the engine a well.

Hy Aaron.

I dont really agree to that! Since I currently have a S4 engine in a S5 car and it works normaly with the original sender since the S5 unit has a different bolt size and didnt fit in the s4 housing!

greetings,

Harry

With an S5 sender and S4 gauge, the gauge will read slightly low.
