s4 t2 thermo switch

I believe my car's thermostat housing is a s4 t2. My thermoswitch broke recently. I was wondering what its used for from factory since my car does not have an electrical fan.

I bought my car used already with a megasquirt 1, and the wire was connected. So would that switch be able to give good ect readings, or is it just a switch to tell my megasquirt 1 open and closed loop. Its dark and cold right now, but I will check tomorrow morning if I can see any other places the previous owner might have taken ect readings from. Thanks

Since my car is using the megasquirt, I'm wondering if there is a cheaper switch that can fit into that hole. I'm thinking it's npt threading.

bump.
I'm still confused why a car with a fan clutch would use the thermo switch. Is it to kick on the ac fans when things get hot? switch open and closed loop?

The temp sensor on the thermostat housing tells the auxiliary fan when to turn on.

the o2 sensor dictates open or closed loop. not ect temp. just some friendly fyi
