new exhaust

im not really looking to get a whole new exhaust just new mufflers at this point i dont have enough money for the whole thing. i was wondering what u all have put on yours. i was looking at the flowmaster 40 but i think i want something a littler quieter than that. any suggestions?

also can anyone give me suggestions on any other mods that i can do to an 87 n/a that are cheap but effective. im new to rotary engines to i have no clue what will work the best and how much hp and whatnot it will add

flowmasters would be a big negitive for the rotary engine.

The Rotary engine has a very HOT exhaust Temp.. let's just say those regular cherry bombs and glass packs will not hold up. after about 2 or 3 months it would basically just blow itself out..

There are plenty of good manufactures of mufflers that will last with rotary HEAT.

I personally use Borla, i like the tone and the looks. Others may disagree but i think their great, Racing beat also make's a good set of mufflers for the rotary engine.. and of course these mufflers are not cheap, they are built better than your run of the mill mustang flowmaster so they will last longer. of course if your looking for something quiet, just revert back to stock mufflers, decent flow rate, and pretty darn quiet, I'll let others get some insight on this thread about exhaust.

Keep us posted.. and by the way. welcome to the club

2 days ago i got in a extremely bad car accident in my pontiac grand prix totalling it. luckily it was 100% the other persons fault and i got 3200$ out of a 1991 piece of **** with a bad transmission and got my rx-7 for only 1500$. so i have some money to spend on fixxing it up a little bit. my plans that i have so far are mainly cosmetics. i plan on getting it painted black with some dark tint on the windows and im gonna swap the hood for a t2 hood like mentioned in the other post. im also going to look at spoilers but i dont want something big and retarded. i REFUSE to turn this car into a riceburner. then after that i plan on getting the exhaust. but im stumped on what to get... ill look into the borla though.. thank you for the help

as for the wing/spoiler... the stock T2/Gtu/89+ wing looks great on all the cars. I didnt have a wing at first, and found an 89 T2 wing for 40$.. had it painted to match and never though bad of it. looks great

P.S. Borla is great, but pricy

If you want quiet RB or stock.

Visit www.racingbeat.com or www.rx7.con for some exhaust ideas. Although not inexpensive you will receive quality stuff unlike the E-bay universal muffler type of thing.

I myself have RB mufflers and they are nice, but they are expensive.
