you'll need 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, and possibly 19,21,22mms. You will mostly use the 10, 14, and 17s. Make sure you have deepwell sockets, wrenches, and extensions. They will make life easier. Depending on what you're doing, you may need a pry bar as well. I would advise having an impact gun and ratcheting wrenches.

As far as the differences between the s4 and s5 subframe, I don't know. I wouldn't imagine it to be more than a couple mounting points/bracket different, but like I said, I don't know. I have never compared the two side by side before.

With junkyard shopping, watch for condition. It would be pointless to get another subframe and have to replace it as well after your sway bar mount snaps from rust and you get wicked body lean. In short, if you live in a junkyard prominant area, browse and find the best product for the money.

*edit* I don't remember exactly, but there may be the occasional 11mm and 13mm from replacement bolts and such. After all, it is a used part. Be prepared for anything.

i was looking in the haynes manual and a online manual and it doesnt show how to remove the front subframe/ cross member only the rear. thats weird unless they are the same to remove/install

are you taking the suspention as well? if you are have fun and bring a few buddies that know what they are doing. the subframe should only be attached to the body with 2 or 3 bolts a side, but it all so has all the suspention and what not attached to it. i think you will have a long, long day at the junk yard.

why do you NEED a subframe, will all this work be worth your time?

all i need is the subframe, no suspension. i need a new one cuz on the driver side of it, it is slightly bent causing me and have bad alignment, and cant fix my alignment until i have a straight cross member. i think about 1hr to take it off i needa know if the s4 and s5 are the same.
thanks
