s4 na to s4 t2 engine harness

ok so im converting to turbo 6port and i have a few ?'s that i hope you guys can help me with . ive been looking at the fsm and my harness and what im trying to figure out is what sensor plugs i can delete from the harness before i put it back on the motor . im replacing the injector clips and re-warping the harness also ,so i figured id remove all the emission shit out of the harness since i removed all the rats nest, egr, and so . does anyone have a a exact pin out of the ecu plugs and what pins i dont need . i hope i'm being clear bout what im asking . thanks for any help

unek87 05-14-10 10:49 PM

ok well i found the pin outs in the fsm. fuel and emissions control on pages 4a-30 through 4a-32 could one of you ecu gurus save the pages and put a check next to each pin that can be removed that has to do with a emissions removal . thanks again im tryin to figure it out but maybe someone elses input would help

alright does anyone know what page in the fsm for ground pin out for the engine harness and were those grounds lead to the sensors . my harness is completely part since i decided to reroute the harness to were i need . and just cause i didnt say what year s4, its a 87'se na and im converting the harness for s4 t2 n332 thanks again for any help, im sure i can find it but just seen if any knew by chance

ok i got the pinout for the ecu but does certain ground pin outs control certain sensors ? if so, anyone know which do what ? the fsm is awesome and pretty much explains everything i need just ALOT of shit to scroll through  and i realize my 3rd post was retarded just for the simple fact i forgot i had the pin outs last night

3A, 3G and 2R are gnds for the internal ECU circuitry.

But if you look at the wiring diagrams you'll also see that 3A and 2R which are spliced together inside the harness, are also spliced to the gnd circuit for all the sensors in the engine bay (tps, afm, variable resistor etc).

And the ECU gnd wire 3G also has the 02 sensor and knock box gnds spliced into it.

All those gnds end up using the rear rotor HOUSING as the gnd point (gnd pt 24 in the manual).

Gnd point 24 AIN'T THAT DAMN GND STRAP B/T THE REAR SIDE HOUSING AND THE CHASSIS!

In other words go stare at the wiring diagrams concerning EGI EMISSONS AND CONTROL UNIT pages.

brotha Ur awesome i've been waiting for one of u gurus to see this . I've read alot of Ur posts and threads over the years and know Ur a fsm junky. u just saved me time for sure . is there a diagram of just the grounds by chance in the fsm? i've only found page 50-120

does any one know if i need both pressure (boost) sensors from the t2 i just realized there is one inside the car

unek87 05-18-10 12:56 PM

what harness is the crank angle sensor plug on by chance

also i have (2) 2 prong (t) connectors 1st connector (blk plug ) blk/red & blk/white
2nd connector (white plug ) blue/blk & blk/white ,which is connected to the above with about a 2ich jumper same color and the a blk/white coming out of that jumper that goes back into the harness

also have a 2 prong( = ) connector green
brown/blk

also do i need the air bypass solenoid valve plug since i removed all emissions . the only reason i ask is cause i'm bout to warp the harness and i want to make sure . also have a green 3 prong connector i dont know what it goes to . thanks

The ATP sensor? Nope, they're the same on N/A cars. That sensor just references atmospheric pressure.

You don't need the AWS solenoid. It's part of the 3k RPM warmup system. Green connectors are test connectors, so leave them in place.

thanks man and as far as the crank angle i found it on the chassis harness it goes from the brake booster area to the engine

Just a FYI and nothing more or less:

You only say that because you don't know one harness designation from the other on a RX-7). See the last few pages of the online 88 wiring diagrams for what each harness is and where it's located.

The series four CAS wiring in in the ENGINE harness and the ENGINE harness connects to the FRONT harness on the left side of the engine.

When you look at a given wire in the diagrams, it'll show the color of that wire and next to the color will be a letter like (E) for engine harness, or (F) for front harness or (EM) for emissions harness (the harness with fuel injector plugs, afm plugs boost sensor plugs etc)

And if this was a series five car, the CAS wiring would be on the Front harness and not the engine harness. Series five are different.

There's no such thing as a chassis harness on a RX. Why bother to write this? Because we all have to talk the same language if trying to communicate with each other. Which in turn means I've to learn Mexican if I remain in TX any longer Ain't Spanish they speak, no way shape or form.

unek87 05-18-10 05:10 PM

well you sho right brotha . the cars i've worked on dont really have harness's like our 7's do . i aint scared to learn though . this is my 3rd fc and the most entailed that i've gotten into one . ive been doing this build now for over a year and just as im bout to lay the harness out my injector clips cracked so i said screw i'll just delete everything emissions related in the harness and fix the clips and make a new harness , well its been over a week now and im just finally finishing up the passenger side engine harness (thanks for the lesson) .

hailers since im running low imp. injectors i keep that lil silver box right that goes to im guess'n the injector grounds from wait is see in the harness

RotaryRocket88 05-18-10 05:25 PM

Yes, you need resistors inline (ie the resistor pack) if the injectors are low impedance.

unek87 05-18-10 06:40 PM

kool im glad cause that's how i wired it. just realized that i lost my fuel adjustment screw sensor (dont know the actually name ) i can still use one off a na right ? i see that ur running a fd pump . is that so you could keep the stock pressure regulator on the rail ?

RotaryRocket88 05-18-10 08:07 PM

Yes, I have an FD pump so the stock FPR is not overrun. All variable resistors are the same. You can read through the thread in my sig. for a list of the things that are different between TII & N/A.

unek87 05-18-10 10:03 PM

OK well i guess I'll be hitting up a salvage yard or 2 here in the next couple of days . as far as the fd pump that's the route im going to take now just for that simple fact. well i think i made the mistake of buying all 4 550's , do you think 680's (1st gen) will be alright on low boost (8 lbs) ?
