s4 5-sp stuck in third gear?
 

My tranny is stuck in third gear what causes this?

you probably messed up the linkage in the tranny, what exactly happened? cruisin in third and then it just wouldnt budge? need some details

shifted from second to third at about 5.5k and it just froze in third wont bugde and its not easy starting off in third gear all the time.

Try getting it stuck in 4th in a 4-cyl van...

are the bushings on your shift lever worn? like do you have a large amount of slop with the shifter to where you can move it all over when its in gear?

nope it usually pop's into gear solid and well it did.. but it's not wanting to come out is there anyway i can try to get it out.?

if you stick is also completely stuck, then most likely its the sychro assembly. if it seizes then the only thing you can do is pull your tranny off and try to fix it, you could possibly knock it free by simulating a realy hard down shift. get up to like 80 in third gear, then push in the clutch till it gets to idle and then drop the clutch as fast as you can to try to back the gears off eachother. other than that you probly need to reabuild the tranny

yeah my stick is stuck?.....

if i where you i would pull it out on a weekend and open it up, you will be surprized by how simple they are. there will be like 2 forks, one for each synchro assembly, one of them is stuck so just take it off and see what failed and hopefully you can buy just that piece or maybe un stick it and it will work fine...

Well i hope it unstick's itself ill see tomarrow if i can get it to unstick.
