s/c question

I have been reading through some of the older threads about putting a supercharger on a NA. I am new to this sort of thing, so I was wondering--someone said you would have to have a custom fabbed intake manifold to use the Eaton s/c on the rotary. Couldn't you just mount the supercharger and then connect the base to the manifold with tubing? I am not trying to ask dumb-ass questions, but I am looking at this as a noob. Now, you would still have to fab an interface between the piping and the s/c base, but that would be a lot less trouble than doing up the manifold. I don't know if it would even work--if it would restrict the flow or cause any probs like that....can anyone tell me? I am trying to make this work and if I can get it all together I will popst results here for others to try.

OH--and I am aware of some of your takes on how the turbo is a better option. I am looking for something different--everywhere in this forum you go, some NA owner asks what to do to get more power, and the answer is ALWAYS go turbo. I don't need 500 horsepower. I just want to be able to surprise people a bit when they look at my 17 year old car.....and this is NOT meant to turn ito a turbo-vs-supercharger thread....

some good things in there, but I am not talking about the Paxton kit. I am talking about doing a custom install of an Eaton M90(the same one used on the Thunderbird SC) to fit my NA engine. It looks as if I could fab a piece that will go between the tb and the outlet on the supercharger itself, and use that instead of having to do a custom upper intake manifold. It won't be as compact, but it would work so long as it all fits under the hood. so basically I would only need to make the piece that fits the sc outlet....I could get the piping to go from there to the tb elbow. Also, I intend to run a fmic with this, as in its use on GMs and Fords, it normally spins at lower rpms and they use ICs in those already. So I would do the same. This should cost a lot less than the $3-4K that a Paxton kit runs by the time the basic install is finished. I will have to pick up a stand alone but I wanted to do that anyway so no problem. Once I get the basics done I will post in here. I am looking to map out just where this will all go in there, since the M90 is the long snout. I know that Mercedes uses a version of the M65(?) for their Kompressor cars with a shorter shout, but it has an electromagnetic clutch on the pulley, cause it has an on/off switch on the dash, and I don't want to mess with that. Just want it on and left on. Besides, the Mercedes one even used on eBay is a couple times the price of the Ford's M90.....we'll see where this goes....any more ideas, shoot them at me guys
