S-afc... search results leave me stumped (Long)

Here it goes... Car is an 88 rx7 Turbo.

I was reading up some stuff about basic tuning tonight on the forum using the search, answers left me stumped, I saw some stuff about the AFL not being over 100 very often, so i thought damn. I've seen 100% af readings. I take a quick drive let it warm up and this is what i see. Idle = 1500 rpm (bumpy) with a 1.9% AFL is that too high because of the high idle? I saw 89.2% afl at 6700 in first gear AFL hit 100% at 5000rpm in 3rd gear WOT (wtf?)

I'm not sure which 2 sensors the S-afc is hooked up to but when i do a sensor check sensor 1 reads just over a volt, sensor 2 reads : .030 volts and the 3rd sensor is about 2 volts. I think 1 and 3 are both in spec but does 2 seem a bit low? Only settings to the s-afc are 15% on the Lo setting and 65% on the high setting.. Car runs very rich...

Fuel mods are. 720 CC secondaries
Walboro pump
S-afc
FCD

Does somethin seem weird to you? Is it hittin 100% afl because the flapper is gettin stuck? Or because it isn't tuned very well? Some basic info would be muchly appreciated..

1. Have someone set your idle for you. You don't have one right now. It should be around 750 rpm.

2. AF1 Shows the position of the vane/flap in the afm. Just pull your air filter off and push in on the flap/vane. All the way back should be approx 100$

3. With the key to just ON, the AF1 should be reading approx .4% take note of the decimal point.

4. At idle, the AF1 should be approx 1.0 percent

5. At idle, and in the etc mode and sensor check, the voltage for AF1 should be approx 2.7 give or take .5. Personally I see 2.7 consistantly over the past few months at idle.

6. If your connected to your tps, the output voltage should be approx 1 volt at idle

7. As far as whether one sees 100percent on AF1.......a lot depends on the spring tension in the afm IMHO. Tell you what. Look at your SAFC and watch AF1 as you slowly push the flap in the afm aft. When you see 100percent on the safc, ask yourself *Is the flap already all the way aft? Or does it still have more room to move aft before bottoming out?*

8. I'd fix the bad idle before I adjusted/played with the safc. Sort of first things first way of doing things.

9. Went to the wrecking yard today. I saw RX7 on the junk heap that looked better than mine. humor.

Thanks for the tips Hailers, i know the idle is bad. It idles at around 1000-1300 but sometimes it idles at 750. I think it might be the BAC or a vac line.
