S-AFC = better fuel economy?

If i get the safc can i turn fuel at idle and under 2krpm waaaay down?

Im running pig rich down low with the rewired walbro.

Also if i hook it up to run boost dependant, with the low setting at ~2V and high at 3.6V (fcd clamp voltage) can i turn it down on low and up at high safely? Will it compensate properly or is it safer to leave the low settings at 0 and increase fuel under boost?

Cheers! 12-28-02 03:37 PM

ask pd_day... his gas mileage in his NA is about hte same as my TII!

that is just sick.

you also have to be careful how lean you run down low wihtout boost... too lean and u will still get a ping

Yes. But you would want to set a 1000 RPM point and turn the fuel down from there. I get better mileage now then before I turbocharged the car due to S-AFC tuning in the low throttle range.

It is safer to leave the low settings alone until you know exactly how it behaves, but once you are used to it you can tune the low settings as well. Instead of using the stock boost sensor, I would recommend using an aftermarket unit such as the ones produced by Crane or MSD. They have a more standard 0-5V output and are uneffected by your FCD.

For me, at Idle, I have It set at -2 Anything less, disturbs my solid 750 rpms. So I leave It there.

that's because you pet your car while I DRIVE my car....

Me = Staying above 6000rpm all the time + winter has net me around 450km / tank

You = Staying below 3000rpm all the time has net you around 460km/tank

If I drove like you in summer, I can go 700km/tank.

Hum, I have a S-AFC and 720cc seconadries, walboro pump, and rewired power to it.

I had this weird problem. When heading up a hill in fifth gear about 2700 rpm the car would bog down....would press the gas to about 32% throttle and it would go to about 5psi.....it was still slowing down. If i press the gas more nothing happens. Boost goes up but the car does not respond. So latter that drive i was just about out of gas so turned the safc down to about - 13%. It then did better go up the hills! More power. I wonder if it was running pig rich in the low range. I will have my wideband hooked up soon. So I can get back to you on that.

James
