That is a stock RX-8 shift knob, that's exactly what it looks like, only they are for a 5-speed instead of a 6-speed.

Yes, the RX-8 came in a 5-Speed MTX in Japan, and yes the ones we sell are Mazda OEM, not knockoffs.

They run about $119 if I remember correctly... I'll check it out tomorrow when I'm at the shop.

PM me and I might be able to hook you up with free shipping if you aren't too far away ;)

I'm in Tejas. Pretty pricey for a shift knob, but I'll see what I can do hehe, I'll pm you later about it

It is a lot, but these things are heaaavvvyy. They're really well made. Mazda doesn't screw around when it comes to expensive OEM stuff.

:D

can you get the lighted 5-speed euro rx-8 knobs?

vex 09-30-05 10:41 AM

Do you have pics of the 5 speed rx-8 knob? and do they fit on an S4 shifter?

matticakes 09-30-05 10:49 AM

Proooobably, I'll check into that.

Edit: Yes I can! They are slightly more expensive though... But they also come in Red, Tan, and Black.

I should do a group buy on these...

SonicRaT 09-30-05 11:12 AM

pics!? You people are driving me nuts! If you're going to talk about something, at least let me see the damn thing! (The lighted, that is... :) )

Alright! Alright! I found a pic of the 5spd one for you guys!

The illuminated one looks exactly like this only the numbers and lines in the middle light up.

EDIT: Also, I forgot to address this before, but no, it will not fit an S4 shifter.

FC3S_nataku 09-30-05 11:38 AM

^shit! is there and way it will fit? will it fit any short shifter kits?

SonicRaT 09-30-05 11:44 AM

Same thread as the S5's?

Yes. Standard M10 thread size. The Series 4 use a large ~M12 thread so they're too big for the knob.

I believe so... Most short shifter kits that I have seen (MazdaSpeed I know for sure) use the S5 M10 thread pitch. They used the same thread on the S5 FC, FD and RX8.

you could turn down the s4 on a lathe and then run it thru a dye. or you could just swap in a s5 shifter lever...

Well... Yeah... There's usually some stock S5 shift levers hangin around the FS section.

[B]sorry guys, i havnt been on the computer lately and it seems my digi cam is broken! ha!...ill use a picture with my cellphone...it does look awesome though and its weighted so theres like more force in every shift if you shift hard...i love it looking 6 speed though, i tell everyone around here with thier hondas and acuras that i have full rx8 swap haha...uhmm i bought the thing for $50 off of ebay...got lucky....i think they retail at like 200 or something straight from Mazda...it wouldnt fit at first but i did some things and it eventually went around the shifter LOVE it now..

staticguitar313 10-01-05 03:40 PM

how much did you forget to say those lighted rx8 knobs are?

evileagle 10-01-05 04:37 PM

I don't know exactly...

It shouldn't be much more than the non-lighted ones though. I have to wait until they show up to know how much they'll be.
