rx7 wont stay running
 

So i got my 86 non turbo running and i changed the fuel pump. The fuel pump is used, but it works. I took off the sending hose to see if any thing is pumping. But my car still starts and eventually dies. I started it b4 and it ran for a good 5 -7 mins to get out all the carbon build up. But now its starts and then dies. sometimes it starts hunting around 1000 to 2000 rpm and then dies. Just wanna some your diagnoses or advice on how to rectify it.

BTW when it hunts the dash warning lights go off and on

So it'll start and stay at an advanced warm up idle, then once it warms up it dies?

which dash warning light? and so how long does it run for? it just revs up that high then dies?

if it really just revs up for a couple of seconds then dies i'd take a look at the afm

ALL the dash lights going on/off means the alt is not putting out all the time. IF the revs get REAL low, as in 100-200rpm, then that MIGHT cause them to come on until the revs get back up enough to charge the alternator. Or the belt might be EXTREMELY loose, causing that problem.

You need to get the engine fully HOT. Then backprobe the green/red wire on the TPS connector and adjust the TPS adjusting screw til the volt meter reads one volt dc. The engine MUST be HOT. This can be done while the engine is idling, if it'll idle. Won't idle? Then get the engine fully HOT and let it die. Key left On and immediatley check the output of the green/red wire for one volt.

Then try to idle the engine. IF it won't idle or hold a idle, then set the idle speed. Also check and make sure the BAC is working. Usually it'll be vibrating or making a humming noise if it is working. Not humming with key ON? Move the throttle a bit and listen again. Make sure the elect contacts in the PLUG are not pushed back not making contact with the contacts in the BAC itself.

Make sure the vacuum lines on the front of the throttle body are on and going to the right places.

All the dash warning lights go on. My first initial guess is that i had to test the alternator. I by HAILERS comments i think its leading that way. I hope its just a readjustment with the BAC and TPS as HAILERS said.:scratch:
