RX7 vs Neon

I'm wantind to know how good my chances are at beating a neon. it might be an r/t but i doubt it. He was talking shit ya know the usual only 1.3 liters rotaries suck that kind of thing. Hes got stuff done to the car but im not for sure but he doesn't have nitrous or a turbo. What would he need to have to beat me?

InfiniIIIREX 01-29-02 07:24 PM

A non-turbo, non nitrous neon against a Turbo II? Please, I don't care how much crap he has done to it, you would kill him. A Neon would need a lot to beat a turbo RX7, maybe a lot of engine work and a 100-shot of nitrous or a big turbo kit, which he doesn't have, so you don't have anything to worry about really, go on and race to shut him up.

tIIforever 01-29-02 07:27 PM

i should put some money on it just to make some quick cash. it also has a bodykit and it has the stock muffler

krackerx7 01-29-02 07:28 PM

you just got pist-on by a rotary

its a neon

InfiniIIIREX 01-29-02 07:31 PM

Bet as much money as you have on it, unless your engine blows or you shift at 2000 rpm, you can't lose.

tIIforever 01-29-02 07:32 PM

yeah he's your typical rice boy. he said by summer when he gets 10,000 he'll be runnin 9's in the quarter

1QWKRX7 01-29-02 07:47 PM

I saw a ew neon do a 13.9 in the 1/4 with only intake, exhaust, somelittle things and a 100 shot of NOS.

tIIforever 01-29-02 07:53 PM

yeah but thats a long way until the nines

stinkfist 01-29-02 08:02 PM

Make it a real race. Tell him you will race in reverse. Either that Or start in 2nd gear shift to fourth then shift to 5th.
Thats about the only way he will have a chance.

You better put money on it.

Tell us about it when you do it.

Mike

tIIforever 01-29-02 08:08 PM

I sure as hell will itll probably be a pretty good story.

jspecracer7 01-29-02 08:14 PM

your going to race a NEON?

You better put money on it because you're just going out there to waste money. My slightly modded tII(1 kilo boost, safc/fuel pump, etc...) would keep up with Skyline R33 GT-R's...which is probably faster than an neon...:D

supergoat 01-29-02 08:17 PM

Yea, you should beat him easily.

tIIforever 01-29-02 08:17 PM

its pretty wet here (weather) right now but that would give me better chances would'nt it

tIIforever 01-29-02 08:19 PM

damn im gonna blow his rice patties off

tesla042 01-29-02 08:24 PM

Yeah, in a t2 you should whoop up..

I've got this damn N/A.. and my friend's neon pretty much killed me.. but I can't imagine it doing anything against a t2.

You can search for the thread, prolly.. title "My car sucks".. ;)

Did your car have any problems? I don't see the neon "killing" an n/a FC:confused:

UneekRJ 01-29-02 09:56 PM

dude...my stock ass could take R/Ts with intakes and exhaust. fastest i ran was 15.86...so i think a T2 will walk all over his ass

Bambam7 01-29-02 11:16 PM

That neon 0-60 is about 8 seconds.....
Your car should be about 6.5
Also, RX-7 don't shine in 0-60, but rather at and after the top of second gear... we all know how good the top end is.
So, unless there is something wrong with your car, and his lane is much more downhill than yours (and a bad headwind on your side of course) you will beat him.
I know I can smoke them for fun, without even going to redline. It's a joke, I am faster than a stock TII, but I've raced them, and they do much better agaisnt me than neons.

Chris Ng 01-29-02 11:41 PM

you might want to take a look at the neon srt4 that is hitting production soon... turbocharged.. a little over 200 hp...

goodspeed 01-29-02 11:42 PM

hmm

I hope that was a fucking joke? Not that a neon cant run a 13.9, but you put it as "all he has is just" intake exhaust , and A HUNDRED SHOT OF NOS!!!!!!.......is that all????

You know what, I ran a 10.5, all I had was a 500 shot of nos, t-78 turbo...thats all....

Hey... IS it ok to use 87 octane with really advanced timing on a 89GXL. I used 89 just recently and noticed I had more power throu out the power band but was a little worried.

actually.....my roomate use to have a neon. it was the R/T 150 hp motor in a base package (so the car was pretty light). anyway, he HATED the car...it was only a replacement he dad got him cause his sentra's motor blew, so he would redline this neon non stop. and to tell you the truth it was pretty damn quick. when my n/a was stock i raced him a few times. from a low rpm rolling start he would pull immediately due to that car having more torque. if we started at a higher rpm it would be even. so i guess all in all his car was slightly faster, although it was ugly as hell i must give it credit. and yes my n/a is in top shape :D

buuuuut, if you are racing the neon in a T2 no worries...you'll kill him as long as your rex is in good shape :)

Etherized 01-30-02 08:56 AM

The R/T neon is pretty quick. I have a buddy who has 2000? model I believe, 17 inch wheel sport package. It's not too bad. A group of us take our cars out every now and then and drag race them for kicks. I have an 86' base bone stock in great shape. We run on a strip that is a tad longer than 1/4 mi and I was racing this Neon. I got the jump on him off the line and held it all the way to the end, but he was right on my door the whole time. I consider myself a decent driver- so neons are about on par with a N/A RX-7.

It's a dodge dude what ru worried about?!?!?! go eat him up!!

KNONFS 01-30-02 09:26 AM

I must agree with the guys who have raced Neon, the DOHC 150HP are a very good match for the FC NA....... probably faster due to its weight advantage. Back in P.R, a group of neon’s that called themselves the grocery getters, where doing high 14's with basic mods available and 13's with NOS.
