rx7 stalls at stops
 

my 88 rx na starts up and idles fine but after it reaches normal temps around 93c it just wont idle. when i come to a stop or put the car in neurtral it just stalls and shuts off. the car is completly stock. please help!!!!!!

i have the same problem how do you find the vacuum leaks and how many hoses are there?

weeeeelllllll...... you fix vacuum leaks by replacing the hoses..... there are MANY hoses, check the FSM (Factory Service Manual) for a diagram, there is one in the stickies to get. To FIND a vac leak is quite tricky, and may take some time and a LOT of patience! One way is to get some carbuerator cleaner, and with the car running start spraying around the vacuum lines. Don't go too crazy, remember the stuff is flammable (kinda the point here). If the car starts to rev up a little as you are spraying then BINGO that line has got a leak.

BUT... to the OP, it seems odd to me that the car starts and idles fine till warm up and THEN starts to stall. If the vac leaks were bad enough to stop the car from running, then I would assume that they would also kill it before it got warmed up. Wait till somebody more enlightened than I chimes in......

how are you supposed to do this with one person when the car doesnt idle though

very carefully..... no, you would need a buddy. but even then it would be difficult, or impossible. visually inspect for vac leaks then.

the reason it wouldnt do it when it was warming up is because of the AWS (accelerated warm up system) That makes the car idle higher until it gets warm to heat the cats quicker.

I also recommend you adjust your TPS, it never hurts. you will also need a buddy though because you have to do it when the car is warmed up. The instructions are in the FSM.

check the CAS. Same thing happened to my car

Also check to make sure the BAC valve is functional and unclogged.

what is the cas and how do you check the bac valve? sorry for all the questions i'm a new owner

could a bad tps also cause this problem??

could it also be a bad gasket ....somewhere in the intake manifold that would cause this....whats the CAS thingy i tried searching it but got nothing

cas= crank angle sensor.....duh

It's doubtfull that the cause is the CAS. A bad or intermittent CAS will have much more obvious causes.
