Rx7 Fc steering wheel sensor help
 

Installed a new wheel a few weeks ago and was givin the wrong hub adapter replaced the adapter with a new one momo brand and went on like a charm alligned correctly steering is perfect and flashers work correctly. But after 3-4mins of driving i get the 5 consecutive beeps for steering sensor issues but everything is correctly put on and attached. Anyone have any idea why it would be doing this. Also a bit of info after i installed the first adapter it did mash the parts of the flasher down a bit but it is still in tact. Any help would be much oblidged. pardon the gramer

i just unplugged the lil blue plug underneath the dash, located above the driverside dash speaker and the beeps went away!

not exactly the "correct" way to go about fixing the problem, BUT IT WORKS FOR ME :D

You did something (read mashed it) to your steering angle sensor. Mounts on top of the turn signal assembly.

If you have power steering, which you probably have if you have a angle sensor, it won't adjust to your speed like it use to until you correct this problem. The 5 beeps is telling you a problem needs to be fixed.

What do you mean by it adjusting to my speed. I have driving it for over a week after the case and it seems to be driving just like normal other than the random beeping. Nothing broke from underneath ither it mashed down a bit and a circle metal band poped out but the shaft still turns correctly. Do you have any more info you can give me?

Also forgot to mention the horn does not work but it is hooked up could that cause the beeping situation?

i have the same issue as you metal, and my horn had issues before that, still does, works randomly! otherwise i get a clicking noise

Dang hopefully we can find someone here who knows how to fix this or tell us what it is exactly.

He's talking about speed sensitive powersteering. With that piece not functioning you car will have either really plush steering all the time or really firm steering where as if it worked you'd have plush steering to 30mph or so and then a firm feel there after.

Ahh I see what your saying now I dont seem to have that issue though my steering is exactly the way it was prior to the switch out.

My friend. This is covered in Icemarks FAQ. The 5 beeps is the ps computer telling you the steering wheel angle sensor isn't working correctly. Since it sits between your steering wheel and turn signal assembly, that angle sensor is probably what you "mashed".

Also, there is a spring loaded connector that push's connection to a metal ring (you call a circle metal band) which in turn connects to your horn button. No metal ring, no connection, horns no work.

An old truth. If after working on something and then something else stops working, go back to where you were working and you'll probably find what you messed up that causes the subsequent problem.

By observing you "mashed" part of the assembly, you've already diagnosed what you messed up. Just because it didn't break in two doesn't mean it's ok. The fact that your steering is the same doesn't mean it wasn't damaged. You can see the damage, so no doubt it's damaged.

Go to pic a part or some other wrecking yard and get another one and then be more careful installing the steering wheel next time. Just a couple screws holds it in place.

Probably the power steering computer telling you there is a problem with the system. The number of beeps before pausing will indicate the problem.

1-beep, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of speed sensor signal:
In case broken wires or short circuits occur to sensors or harnesses, the buzzer sounds 60-seconds after the engine speed signal of 2200 rpm continues for 18-seconds.

2-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of engine speed signal:
The buzzer sounds twice and repeats when the vehicle speed signal is missing input and/or no engine speed signal is found (short circuit, broken wire, etc.)

3-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of stepping motor signal:
The buzzer sounds when there are broken wires or short circuits in coils or harnesses.

4-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of the power steering microcomputer:
The buzzer sounds 4 and repeats when there are circuit troubles other than with the micro computer.

5-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of steering sensor signal: Steering sensor is mis-aligned or failed or steering wheel has been improperly installed.
