Rtek7 ECU Upgrade

I was thinking of getting it. Anyone here using it? Do you like it? Thanks..

ScrappyDoo 04-07-05 07:54 PM

I can't speak for how it works since it is sitting on my desk next to some 720s waiting to be intalled but the Digital Tuning guys were great to deal with. I'll be installing in two weeks and I'll post my experience.

Cool.. Thanks. You ever sell the vert?

Node 04-07-05 08:37 PM

ive checked into this, and the only complains about that ECU are due to user error or pre-existing problems with your car.
I havent seen anyone with problems with the actual chip itself.

No, poor thing has been slowly raped of parts for my TII but I will build her back slowly and probably keep it.

oh ok..

I installed my Rtek v1.5 yesterday. Fuel cut is gone and I couldn't be happier! Now I need a Profec B and a FMIC.

I have the 1.7v. Gotta like the flood clear.

Hint hint, version 2.0.

Release version 2.

I have version 1.7 and am loving it. I can push 12psi all day without worrying about blowing my engine because of excessive timing and/or fuel starvation. However, I still haven't been able to get the ecu to unflood my car.

josh greene 04-08-05 11:16 AM

With the Rtec do you not need a SAFC??? Im getting a rebuild and I dont want to blow it but Im on a budget....I have a 2.5" turbo back Exhaust and a FD fuel pump but stock injectors so I was thinking of getting the v1.5.....
Thanks

BlackpantherRx-7 04-08-05 11:16 AM

Is that a complete ECU or just a chip and how much will it work on S4 and S5 engines?

Wizz 04-08-05 11:36 AM

The 1.7 NEEDS 720cc secondaries. An SAFC could be used to fine tune. The rtek is just a chip, it replaces the stock EPROM. 1.5 has a DIY option, the 1.7 does not.

Only works with S4 TII. www.pocketlogger.com

josh greene 04-08-05 11:50 AM

but what im thinkin is will the Rtek 1.5 be enough with the mods to not blow the engine??? I can either get a Rtek or a SAFC I dont have enough for both cause of the rebuild costs..

i just sent payment for mine today and will be sending my ECU out tomorrow. i cant wait to get this back and see what's if anything feels different. i really want it for the timing controller and fuel-cut, but the other options are also good to have.

MrFuzzy 04-13-05 01:55 AM

Got mine its pretty nice

torean 04-13-05 08:15 AM

got mine installed and i do enjoy the full throttle= unflood thing.....cant really tell u if the ecu is working to the fullest since i cant boost nor can i go above 4krpm....some people have had results with better exhaust note...but personally...i didnt seem to hear a difference...the facoty duty cycle is also raised as well as the lowered secondary kickin rpm....i do notice a umph when im around ~3500rpm......i only hope that it wont kick in while im cruising on the highway

full-cruise 04-13-05 08:42 AM

i wonder if there is any dyno charts of this b4 and after installation just to see if there's much improvement in performance or can we call this a safety feature

Ottoman 04-13-05 08:44 AM

there's news of a Rtek 2.0 around the corner.. if u haven't bought one yet.. maybe u should wait it out a little bit longer..

so if do nothing but put 720's and the Rtek with no afc, and then raise the boost to say 14 psi will the ecu still be able to add fuel and compensate for the additional air? or do u HAVE to have to AFC to use the 720's and the Rtek is only there to compensate for the low fuel trims?

so the Rtek would also mean u could up the maximum size of the secondaries that u can use with an SAFC II as well right?

HHTurboVert 04-13-05 04:23 PM

I have the 1.7 and push 14 psi with no problems(so far). The 1.7 will run 720cc 2ndary injectors with no fuel controller just fine. Iv'e had mine installed for over a month now and am very satisfied. From what I've read about the R-Tek, I would hazard to say that the 1.7 would probably support boost pressures in excess of 14 psi. However, with the stock IC and Turbo your intake temps would start getting danerously high above 14psi.

I had to choose between the S-afc and the R-Tek and I choose the R-Tek. All the AFC does is lie to the ecu. The S-afc is not going to change the fact that the stock ecu will not retard timing above 9psi. That means if your running anything above 9 psi on a stock ecu,(even with an S-afc) your timing will be excessive which could make your motor go pop.

The R-tek also is easier to install, requires NO TUNING, retards timing above 9psi, and has a bunch of other helpful feature. Ohh, best of all, the R-tek is cheaper!!!

Just my 2 cents

So what are the rimors about the 2.0?

Currently I have the V1.5 in my car. I've put over 20k on my new engine with this ecu.

I've never owned a TII so I don't know what fuel cut is really but I don't mind :D

Currently I can tell of a kick at the injector turn on in certain situations(most commonly 0psi/0vacuum load driving). I don't notice it that often but Yes I am stuck right at that rpm the secondaries turn on during highway driving.
I've done most grounding already to help remove this problem.

I plan to upgrade to 720's soon but I might hold off if 2.0 will handle 720's plus some extra stuff.

hondahater 04-13-05 05:16 PM

yep 2.0 will handle 720's or 550's with built in fuel correction of up to +/- 15% (basically a built in safc) as well as datalogging for just about every sensor the the stock ecu sees all from a cheapy palm pilot.

Traiko 04-13-05 05:32 PM

Where can this rtek be purchased from. I dont think I caught it mentioned in the thread yet (Or the other thread linked).

TIA

gerbraldy 04-13-05 05:33 PM

hey hondahater, you gotta empty your mailbox, I can't send you a pm.

josh greene 04-13-05 05:54 PM

any word on when the 2.0 is comming out????
