RPMs lag

What is it ? Im on the highwwa cruising around 65mph ,5th gear all of a sudden my rpm goes from 3 or 3000 to 5 them back down . There was a lag in power for a second . What is it a sliped clutch ,is it going bad ? Thank any info :icon_tup:

either your clutch is bad or your left leg was having a seizure near your clutch pedal. lol dont rest your foot on the clutch pedal while your cruising, if it does it again you might just have a slipping clutch.

3rpms to 5k? or 3k to 5k? Its possible the trailing coil that gives the tach its signal or the wiring to the tach is going out if its jumping all around and the engine speed isnt changing like that.

actually im pretty sure it isnt that because he mentioned that the power also dropped(in other words he was decelerating), that coupled with the fact that his rpms shot up strongly suggest slipped clutch. but what do i know.:dunno:

if he looses the trailing plugs wouldnt he be able to feel a difference?

likely a clutch problem, you often notice it in 5th gear first

believe it or not i actually was curious whether the trailing did make a difference in power and so i disconnected it one day to see. no difference at all. i believe it was really only useful to burn off residual HC for emissions purposes.
