Rotor usage question

I picked up a TII block core for my rebuild... The housing are usable now I'm just trying to see if the rotors are. The rotors had some rust on them. The rust pitted very tinys holes into the surface of the rotor. My question is can I use these rotors or do I need to find a new set?

I dont know if its the same for the Rotors but i had some cams for my srt-4 they had small rust pitts, I just used 2000 grit sandpaper and they went away.. Im not sure if that helps you any but i know it worked on the cams..

definatly need some pictures, depending on how deep the rust is it could weaken the face of the rotor or mess with the seals depending on where the rust is.

Slight pitting is fine as long as it is just on the compression surface of the rotor. If you have pitting on any of the thrust surfaces, post pictures.

waiting for a second opinion... everyone agree?

GriffthX 05-07-06 08:41 PM

I would agree too.. But i would just sand them down little with 2000 grit.

those are ok to use as long as the apex seal grooves are not pitted. don't sand the rotors.

ok well I guess we'll see what happens.

those faces mean little, get pics of the sides of the rotors with gears and oil seal grooves, those are the more important faces.

The rest of the rotor is fine, its only pitted where shown in the pictures.

take pics of the side housings so we can see if they are good.
