i dont think so..looks like the parts that hold the apex seal are completely gone O.o ..but i could be wrong...

WAYNE88N/A 06-13-04 09:31 PM

Dude, that is nasty...I vote no (can't fix)

apreludem 06-13-04 09:35 PM

i seriously doubt it..but i have been proven wrong before....best if you ask kevin from rotaryresurrection.com

Mr. Gadget 06-13-04 09:36 PM

Without physically seeing the rotor, i would say no. THe damage looks to severe.

razorback 06-14-04 01:06 AM

the weird thing is that i dont see any scratches in the housing. oh and damn it.

i dont think its fixable either, just wanted to make sure.

RotaryResurrection 06-14-04 01:28 AM

Usually, apex seal pieces that hit near the edges bend the corner seal hole in, meaning the seal can't move freely anymore. You can mill this kind of damage out for 3mm, but you can't really fix the corner seal hole issue. IF the CS doesnt move freely in and out anymore, it is junk. IF it does, you can probably go 3mm with it and save it.

razorback 06-14-04 01:34 AM

no 3mm for me. i already have 2mm seals and dont plan on upgrading, cant afford it. but if you think you may be able to fix them for yourself then tell me. i need rotor(s) now.

i responded to your pm.

RotaryResurrection 06-14-04 01:40 AM

Someone will have to have their hands on it to see if the CS hole has been affected or not. Odds are it has been, and is junk.

Milling for 3mm only costs a hundred or 2, and the seals themselves don't cost any more than 2mm. For regular street engines, 2mm seal better and work fine, but for modified guys pushing their setup, there is NOTHING wrong with going 3mm. They DO hold up better.

razorback 06-14-04 01:47 AM

well i already have all the 2mm stuff so ill use that. but when i get a motor built for me then i will definatley go 3mm.

I'd chuck it cause of all the pits on the rotor face surface.
These can induce detonation by hot spots.

A fudged apex seal groove is automatic no good, cause excessive blow-by or seizing apex seal both are no good.

well im trading kevin landers 2 s4 na rotors for my good rotor, and im sending him the one in question so if he thinks its good then he can mill it out and use it.
