rotor damage with pics
ok im always interested in looking at pics of peoples destroyed rotors so here is one from an engine i just tore down anyways when i took it apart 2 apex seals were split in the center and the third was gone i assume that is what caused the holes in the other 2 along with the scoring of the rotor and housing anyways enjoy

Looks like you got yourself a nice paperweight now.
|
Thats all within spec!
:D |
actually i think ill make a neon light thing like beer signs at bars itll go next to my dart board if i get really bored ill throw an electric motor in it aswell and make the thing spin
|
That'll buff right out....
|
wow... now that's damage there lol.
|
Nothing a little sandpaper can't fix... LOL...
|
i've seen worse, in person. :)
too much boost and not enough fuel is bad mmmmkay! :D wait, lol damn that is an n/a.... how the hell did he manage to munch it so bad? |
well you tear down and rebuild engines alot more then me, i bet youve had some of those HOW THE F*** DID THAT HAPPEN moments
i bought the engine from a junkyard because i wanted all the long block parts intake manifolds and such and it was cheaper to buy the whole thing than to buy each part invidually i knew the motor was blown and i new the damage before i tore it down by looking in the exhaust ports so it wasnt a shock to me |
The worst one I have seen was an REW automatic engine. All 6 apex seals were gone, both housings, both rotors, the front and middle iron were trash. Only the stat gears, e-shaft and rear iron were reusable.

don't mind my comments, most of the time they are pointless, hehe.
|
no worries ive been reading the forums for almost a year i dont post alot cause anything i want to know is here and any of those dumb question i have (will this fit???), have already been asked like 100 times or so and i know how to search LOL unlike alot of other people.
it took me about 2 months of reading before i went ahead and decide to dive into an engine (actually 2) im in no rush to make massive amounts of horse power i just want to tweak with things for awhile na and have fun |
i wish more people were like you and did some research, not that i don't mind helping but i learned that very same way.
|
did any of you guys notice the VIAGRA papers under the rotor ...i though it was funny but WOW how could that happen ..lack of oil
|
yea i was considering coming to you for a rebuild but im hands on and like getting dirty and cutting my hands up no better feeling in the world when you get it done yourself
i was waiting for someone to catch the vigra article in the newspaper i saw it for the first time when i uploaded them and laughed myself |
that is true :)
if you need any assistance though feel free to ask. |
thanks i appreciate that but i know enough to get me by as of now and i am serious that any and all question i have had are in the archives along with any other little knowledge that i didnt need to know but now do
|
Ok, now seriously dantheman, for a less than a year old rotary person, what do think, or know, is the cause for this "problem"?
PEACE MOMBO |
i dont know and i said what i think caused it but then again i also dont care its done its bad my life will go on
also mombodogs i wasnt trying to come off as a know it all which i am not, never will be so please dont try and make me sound like i was coming off as one because i know i dont know nearly anything about these cars other than i like them and like learning more about them |
That's pretty normal damage from a blown apex motor. Sometimes you see worse, sometimes lighter damage, either way the result is the same, no or almost no compression on the affected rotor.
www.rotaryresurrection.com ---> tech ---> internal engine damage And yes, on rare occasion, the chunks of seal that get thrown out of the one rotor when it blows, can randomly bounce off the exhaust manifold and get thrown back into the opposing chamber in a brilliant stroke of bad luck, doing damage there where damage would not otherwise have occured. I have taken engines apart that had all of the apex seals intact on a rotor, yet the rotor face and housing surface showed evidence of pieces of seal flying around. Obviously the seal couldnt have come from that rotor, so this is the only explanation. |
Don't mind the Dog...he doesn't bite...lol ;)
That's some pretty horrid scoring... |
yea ive read mombos posts before he has a certiain lets call it "charm"
but yea thats interesting about a seal coming back from the exhaust into the other rotor was it running stock exhaust or an aftermarket one? |
Dude, take a chill pill. I was asking a serious question. If I came across a little strong for your fragile intellect, FO. Unbelievable how so many individuals mistake humility and lack of knowledge for arrogance. I'm a rotary retard just searching for knowledge and information, which I obviously won't find with you!
PEACE MOMBO |
oh shit, son!!! he does bite!!!
lol :D |
lol
