Rotary Resurrection PD delete???

This is odd. I removed the PD dampener and went to the Junk yard and got a primary
rail. I removed the Banjo bolt and proceeded with the install on my car. But the bolt doesn't go all the way in. I compared the Banjo I have to the one on RR site.

RR Banjo has a lot more threads. WTF?

I got the car off a modded N/A FC at the yard...so I am thinking...Maybe the turbo banjo bolt and the N/A banjo are different size. Can anyone confirm this. :wallbash:

No shop has Banjo bolts in my area..so I am stuck.

Cut a few threads off the bottom of your bolt that is too long. Use a Dremel with a cutting disc.

I was thinking the same think Cake, but the bolt would also have to be threaded...I guess mazda makes 2 kinds with different thread length.

If u look at Landers pic...the threads are closer to the hole in the bolt.

i put an (86)NA banjo bolt on my (87)TII. you got it off the primary fuel rail off of an NA? is their year differences or something?

thats the funny thing. I took it off the primary rail off a N/A 86-88 model and its going on an 87 N/A.

My be its works on N/A to turbo?

I am going to buy one...but I was just curious.

on my car 88 the rear bolt was abit larger than the PD bolt, i just spend 10 bux and ordered a banjo bolt from summit

Could you just use a dye? and move up the thread pattern?

RETed 05-20-07 03:58 PM

The TURBO banjo bolt on the opposite side of the PD is 14mm x 1.5.
The NON-TURBO banjo bolt on the opposite side of the PS is 12mm x 1.25.
The PD threads are 12mm x 1.25.

If you have a TURBO FC, you need the NON-TURBO banjo bolt to replace the PD.

Ted hit it right on the money. The back bolt is longer than the front bolt. I ran into this same problem when I did my FPD removal too. Also, that bolt from Summit is junk. I ordered one and went to install it and snapped it clean in half when the bolt wasn't in 1/2 way into the fuel rail. Stock fuel rail bolt is much stronger.

Ummmm, the numbers Ted quoted are not the lengths but the thread size and pitch.

Thanks...I was just about to order that one too. That one is aluminum..

Thanks fot the info..

SO I am guess the PD delete only works with the Turbo rail using a N/A Banjo bolt.

Not N/A to N/A

Ice_Wolf 05-21-07 03:24 PM

Yea, it works N/A to N/A. IIRC, you need the N/A rear fuel rail banjo bolt from the S4, so the rear bolt from an 86-88 N/A should work for all years. Like Ted said, the turbo bolt has a different size than the N/A, obviously due to the turbo needing more fuel and thus a bigger rail. My rear bolt came from a S4 N/A and fit perfectly. Also, MAKE SURE you have both copper crush washers that fit the bolt otherwise you're going to have a pretty nice fuel leak and of course don't forget to torque the bolt too. :)

rogrx7 05-21-07 04:08 PM

thats the part that is bugging me...is it doesn't fit. Unless the previous owner put a different bolt in.

VacavilleFC 05-21-07 04:32 PM

i don't wanna argue with the gurus, but i'm almost positive the rear banjo bolt was larger than the PD in diamater. i remember comparing it to my summit bolt and thinking how the hell do people just take an extra from the back.
