ROM3D Model Store
Just started a new store with Gumroad to start to sell some 3D models of the Rx7 FC for printing.
ROM3D Premium Store Currently I've only uploaded corner vents for the Rx7. They are a perfect snap in fitment. I've got other products in the works that I currently have on my car that I am testing that I will be later adding, but I want your initial thoughts to see if there's a market for this stuff at all. Worse case, I keep them all for my personal car so no big deal if there's no market, but would love to make a few bucks to help support my 3D Printing hobbie :D Other products in the works are a fitted two cup holder for the rear center console (it fits perfectly under the hatch with the lid closed), a mirror switch panel replacement (with rx7 logo engraving), Cigarete lighter ring replacement (this one is free on my Thingiverse Store), Rear "Diffuser" fins that snap into the S4 rear bumper (currently testing their endurance to the elements), and a MazdaSpeed wedge that looks cool and helps prevent the dash from rattling ( Also free on me Thingiverse Store) I'm also open to other ideas for products to make and overall suggestions. I own an S4, so I'm really going to cater to that to start - I know us S4 owners don't have as much flexibility with finding parts as S5 body style do. Thanks for your time! |
Cool. Look forward to seeing what you come up with

I really really REALLY want a reverse scoop for turbo hoods. sort of like the Re-Amemiya one.

LOL butt flavor is the only flavor  i have seen two version. 3 vents and 4 vents either one is good but my preference is the 4 vents i dont know why but it looks better https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...ecd2ed9aae.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...e45acf2393.jpg |
Just ordered corner vents. I destroyed mine trying to climb out from under the dash.

Print in ABS with 1mm support resolution, and up to you on layer height, works well with .3, but .1 will give the fins a nicer finish. |
Can't wait to see the diffuser and I like the 4 vent hood piece. Now if you could only make a front spoiler and side skirts for the S4.

The rear diffusers are still in alpha stage. Testing fitment, shape, and endurance at the moment. All boxes check out so far in my testing out here in the Arizona heat, the only thing I'm not happy with is the design of the inner most parts (not seen in this picture). These will be Diffuser "fins", as they wont actually help diffuse air like a real race car diffuser would. There will be no flat plate below the car, just fins that snap in firmly into existing holes in the S4 bumper along with the help of some 3M tape. I'll have more information on this as soon as I make the new design and test that out. As for front spoiler and side skirts, I got those in my plans. I currently have a front lip design but haven't started printing yet. The problem with consumer grade 3D printers is scale. Big parts have to be printed in sections, then welded together, then finished, so the trial and error process is tedious. At the end of the day, I need to make a product that works great, fits great, looks great, and still keep it a lot cheaper than going out and buying a urethane bumper. Just to give you an idea... one of my "lighter" test designs for the front lip could be as cheap as $20 of plastic to print it :) but these are early designs so this doesn't mean my final design will be that light. Also, I wouldn't sell the design for that cheap either. But I'll be sure to keep you guys posted - especially now that I see that there's interest, this fuels me. |
So are you selling the templates or the actual vents already printed?

I think most S4 owners would agree, all we want is the front spoiler and side skirts that are like the S5 ones. Nothing too aggressive. If you want aggressive, you can find it. Bumpers and side skirts on Ebay.

lense housing for the jdm front parking bubble lamp would be greatly appreciated.

This is very interesting t me as well. I have several 3D printers and 3D scanning equipment.

For now, I don't think I'll be proceeding with a 3d printed front lip just yet. The trial and error phase of 3d printing large objects is tedious. I just picked up an s14 lip and got it fitted this week and should be painting it and slapping it on this weekend.
sounds like hood scoop is a popular one and plan to do that once I get my hands on a turbo hood. |

lol that’s exactly the top two items on my list. The third being the clock idiot gauge surround (which I’ve already started). |

you're looking to print the clock gauge surround? I know somebody has a 3d print model for that online for free on thingiverse. Only problem is that I believe the creator said he hadn't printed it and didn't know if it fit haha.
and if if I were to actually go beyond test fitting I would not print it myself as I only have fdm printers and would instead contract out for a more professional manufacturing service ROM I love what you are doing man |
Btw, I can scan a good scoop and send you the obj for clean up if you would like |

As I said above, I won't be modeling and printing a front lip. Even though the cost of plastic "can" be cheap when printing the part, the trial and error, adjusting the model, reprinting and re-welding,... the work would just out weigh the convenience. The options would be to sell the 3D model for people to print, weld, do all the work themselves, then hope they don't have issues and want to complain, or I would print it, weld it and do the prep work to make sure I'm selling a solid product, but the latter would mean I charge for my work and labor too which would make the front lip more or equality as expensive as one from a reputable company. Anyway, here is the s14 lip I picked up, cut, welded, fixed, sanded, painted and slapped on the car! :D

Lol not bad, not bad at all!

Is there a specific S14 that has that lip? |
