I have the Kirk racing roll bar, don't have any info right now other than that but it is the best mod I did so far. Stiffened the hell out of the car and added a sense of security. it was only $230, it is a 4 point, and installs in about 3 hours with minor drilling. I'll look for the link in a minute.

Roll bar side effect?

Any issues after installing that affect the wind blocker use, access to remove the rear panel over the spare tier, or how far the seat will move back (issue for us tall guys)?

I'd like to know this too!!!!

Only side effects are the headrests rub on the bar and the seatbelts don't move as freely as before. And the seat belts rattle a lil against the bar also. If you get the bar without the cross member your seat travel will not be effected, with the crossbar seat travel, well, is not enough for me (6'2"). The roof will work as it always did, but the wind blocker is another story; I removed mine the first day I got the car to free up about two more clicks in seat travel (about one inch). The blocker will probably work.

That rollbar looks good, but will it really protect you? Is it taller than your head? Is it taller than your head in a helmet?

Samps 01-23-02 12:16 PM

it is a bit taller than my head (6'2") but in a helmet I don't think it would clear. The simple fact is; it's better than nothing.

I was just wondering about this for my vert, as ~3 weeks ago, I rolled my 96 Outback Wagon 2 times. :p: Suffice to say it changed my mind about the possibility of a rollbar. :D

However, I am 6'5", so it may not actually be any use. Perhaps I should get it regardless, at least it would protect my girlfriend. :) :D

Another possibility...

I've seen 2 types. A general roll vert cage and then the bubble one (contoured around the seats)

In my opinion, the rollbar will be most valuable in it's contribution to chassis stiffness and asthetic value as opposed to safety. The only way that rollbar would protect me is if I rolled perfectly sideways because any back or front force will make it bend., just my 2 cents

If you are tall, then do NOT get the harness bar on your bar. I did and ended up selling the bar to someone else that was shorter than me. It will not allow you to use the wind blocker (that sucks anyways:D) and it is a PITA to get to the spare. Without the harness bar, these things are not an issue.

My Kirk roll bar is slightly different than the one on Dave's site. My harness bar is curved back instead of straight across, letting you move the seat back a little further.

john, could you post a pic of your bar?

thanx...
