Reupholstering seats, door panels etc
Has anyone done it? What was the cost
I would like to get the Grey TII bucket seats redone since finding a exact match cloth would be hard I would need to re-do the door panel as well. and While I'm at it the headliner carpet I'm going to get from Mariah $365 ouch but it would replace ALL the carpet from and back and sides (I think for that price) Then there is the center console shifter boot etc I'm guessing it would cost around 1k to have a new interior then another 1k for a paint job and throw in the 1k I spent on my Rebuilt TII engine $3k plius the cost of the car, not bad for a mint condition TII the TII I bought last week cost me $600. Here is the interior shot when I got it then after 2 days of cleaning and putting the headliner, seats, door panels etc back toghter http://mediaservice.photoisland.com/...3031956852.jpg - http://mediaservice.photoisland.com/...0935517808.jpg - looks much better then before but I would like to redo the whole interior anyways. |
I haven't done it, but I know you can buy headliner material from a fabric store. But you may not get the color you want.

You can get the same kit from www.accmats.com for less then what Mariah charges. I wouldn't be suprised if that was their source. The kit is molded but does not include the rug for the storage bins or the door sills. No one that I know of makes a kit to redo the seats or headliner. Buy new seats or have yours redone. The headliner I cannot help you with.
Hope that helps a little. DB |
Hey thanks phinsn! for the link
they have a carpet kit that includes the cargo area for way cheaper then the mariah kit cool!! question: cut pile -- loop -- nylon -- whats the best style anyways? |
Done this
Go to your local Mazda dealer parts counter guy. Ask them where they send THEIR cars to be done. Since you are such a VALUED customer, ask them to give them a call that you're coming over for a complete interior redo. That way at least your getting good guy price from someone that specifically has experience with your car.
I would guess they could do the whole thing INCLUDING a good grade of carpet for under $1K. I have my Vert door panels and seats done following this path (except carpet and headliner) and got it for around $400. Unless your headliner is looking really bad, I wouldn't mess with it. The stock set up is a molded affair. I've seen more than one Rex in the wrecking yard with glue on and have yet to see one that had a stock look. Merry Christmas and have a safe New Year. Ever notice the years keep coming round and round, and motors keep going round and round also. Just the natural order of things I guess. :) |
