Restarting a Neglected RX7

Hi all

As a newbie, I'd appreciate some advice...

I have an old RX7 Turbo II Cabriolet (1989 I think). When I became a father nearly 5 years ago, I bought a practical car and left my RX7 at my sisters house for safe-keeping. All I asked of her was that she started it regularly... but she couldn't be bother to do that!

So, I have an RX7 that has been left to rot for 4 years! Unsurprisingly, it does not start... it tries, but the starter cannot kick the engine into play. I'm not mechanically minded!

Now my sister wants me to remove the car. I don't want to scrap it. I'd rather get it running again. That said, I don't have thousands to spend on the car and I'm not sure of the value of a working RX7 Turbo II cabriolet anyway.

What can I do to start the car? Is it worth trying to revive it? Any advice would be most welcome.

many thanks

Matt

No no no!!!! That is a poor way to try to start the car and you may risk breaking other things!!! For this to even be the least bit effective you would need the car going deciently fast too and at this point because the car has been sitting for so long it would need a few tries at it. This should be used as a last resort only.

To the OP. Follow the instructions in the link above. Whenever I have had a no start issue with an RX7 a procedure like what Aaron worte got the job done.

Good Luck
