Resistor pack wiring (which resistors are secondary?)
Ok,I just had a buddy lend me some 900 cc injectors so I can use an RTEK 1.8 and get the car Running,.the problem is,is that they are HI impedance.my Primaries are gonna be 700cc.(low impedance).running a TII on an N/a Harness with the resistor pack.
I need to Bypass Two resistors on the pack to the secondaries..does anyone know which resistors are For the Secondaries? I am not Hacking up my Resistor pack,it is an Extra or Spare pack I happen to have.,So I can do this and then use all LOWS later.I will have another Good resistor pack for that.. I know someone has done this..Thanks GUYS!..appreciate any repplies with info.Cheers Dave/STYX. |
I would just run the Resistors inline with the injectors.
Then add the resistor pack to the whole setup later. However If you put them inline with the Hot side or "+" side it would limit the signal coming from the ecu to the injector. Someone correct me if I am wrong :dunno: I think what you really need is someone with a nice diagram. |
I think Hailers has posted the diagram from the 87 wiring diagram which shows the resistor pack. The one in the FAQ doesn't show it because it is for an 88.

I can always start Cutting and Metering the wires, but that is what I wanted to avoid. |
It's really easy. Just check for continuity between the seconday injectors' leads and find which they match to on the resistor pack plug. Those two will be the secondary injectors, the other outside two are the primaries.

Brown/White for the front secondary and Brown/Yellow for rear secondary according to the 1987 FSM. See attached jpg.

Solder beats crimping but crimping works also depending on the crimping device. There's thousands of crimped wires in that airplane flying over your head. |
Styx - if you change your mind about hacking up that spare resistor, do this. On the resistor plug, harness side, de-pin the two secondary wires and the common wire that feeds all. Use a pick for this to move the tiny plastic tab that holds the terminal. There may be a rubber grommet that you need to get to first. Then make a set of three wires into one using the same terminals used in the car. Use this to send power back to the resistor and supply unresisted power to the injectors. I'll make a quick pic.

This will take you less time than it took me to draw - much less time.

thank You very Much Gentlemen.
I looked at the resistor pack and through Hailer's Multiple Posts, but I was confused as the four leads from the resistors are all black with white Serrated dashes.and I didn't have the car here to compare(15 miles from it.So I do research nad then do Work on it.) I got the Jist of this Mod..and I thank you Guys for the Replies.. I am gonna put 700 Primaries and 900 Secondaries on with an RTEK 1.8(calls for all 720). I am thinking that the 550s were Hindering it from running correctly.(too lean) I got to get that Wideband hooked up today too.. Cheers.,I will update for sure.I wouldn't want others to go through this..It is VERY annoying..Like eating Pudding with a toothpick. |
Yeah, depinning the harness side of that plug is better than cutting the wires on the resistor pack itself. Rubber grommets pull back fairly easy.
