Resistor pack diff?
 

is there a differance between the s4 87 n/a early model to a s4 88 t2 model. could that be why my car is having its problems with the bucking. the resistor pack telling the injectors there high impedence when there really low impedence? hmm. what do u guys thing

there is no resistor pack if the car came origanally with the high impedence injectors. the resistor pack is only to boost the signal for the low impedence injectors to the ECU.

Well, the real question here would be. Your 88 had a resistor pack in it? If it did, what type of injectors are installed in it?

okay i dont know . :( how do u know if the injector is high or low impedence. umm assume there low. they came with the motor wich is an 88 and the resistor pack i took off the s4 na (87 early year model) harness that i had lying around. and put it on the 88 t2 harness.

is it bad if i just take the resistor pack off? will it hurt anything?

What was the build date on the '88 engine (or the car it came from)?

Heck, just go pull a secondary injector connector off, and read the injector coil for resistance through the two pins, if it's around 11-12 ohms, they're high impedance, and you need to remove those resistors...If they're 2-3 ohms, you're OK...

Resistors don't go bad, they just burn up when you fuck something up :P

okay so i took off the resistor pack and the car wouldnt start. i plugged it back in and bam it worked again. so im under the assumption that the injectors are low impedence. so theres no differance between na or t2 resistor packs?

so im guessing this isnt my problem when she stutters at some points. if u dont know what im talking about see my post about fcd. im going insane trying to figure this out. could the turbo pipe be casuing this? cuz its kinda s'd,

i attached pics. i dont know if u can see the turbo pipe. if not ill take a closer shot. not the intake of the turbo but the output for the turbo that goes to the intercooler. i had to make one outa some piping that i got from napa or some shit like that. if its kinda bent at the turbo would it cause the turbo to spool bad or something. im confused.

ps dont mind the mess. im working on it. i know its messy.

If you have a multimeter, you can ohm out your injectors. Low impedance ones run about 2 ohms. High run about 10.

There were no resistor packs for anything past 87 1/2. The 88 had high resistance injectors. Do what JRAT said above.

The solenoid resistor pack in a 87 1/2 and younger car is not the same thing as the Fuel Pump Resistor Relay package on later cars. Don't confuse the two items.

The solenoid resistor pack in your 87 feeds the 12v to the injectors. It's not surprising that your car did not start with it disconneted.

Just look on the Mazda Parts listings.. Comapre the part numbers. It isn't that hard.
