Replacing side seals...

Ok so heres the deal. I'm rebuilding my 13BT because of a blown coolant seal. Now when I went to remove the side seals from the rotors, the seals on one side of the front rotor were lliterally stuck down in the grove because they were caked with carbon. I don't know exactly how the engine ran like this because i highly doubt they could have been sealing. Anyways, I got all but 2 side seals out of the rotor. 2 of them snapped in half because I had to yank them out of the groove. All the other side seals are well within spec. No I was wondering is it ok just to replace these 2, or do I need to replace all 3 seals on that side. Or will I have to get all 12 side seals? The remaining side seals are in great condition and in spec...I'm hoping I can just order 2. Opinions?

Yes, you can just replace 2 side seals as long as the others are in spec.

Be aware that when you buy new side seals, they won't fit. They need to be clearanced (ends ground down). Procedures in factory service and Haynes manual. And once they are clearanced, they are only to be installed in their clearanced location.
