Replace Oil Cooler

I'm thinking I need to replace my oil cooler, but I was looking at Mazdatrix's site and they've got them listed for $600. Has anyone used a different aftermarket oil cooler in a 89-91 N/T? If so, I'd really appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks in advance

The stock one is a really good oil cooler. I'd just suck it up and pay the $600. Just my .02 though.

Geez, just search the parts for sale section or hit up a junkyard. $600? ugh.

Have it repaired by a radiator shop...

Get a used one and have it ultrasonically cleaned. Hell you could by a whole parts car for $600, maybe 2 or 3 of them!

Yea get a used one, or get yours cleaned and repaired. I've looked at a few aftermarket ones and their largest was still not as big as the stock mazda one. I was thinking of joing two of their largest, but I wasn't sure of how that would effect oil pressure, having the oil run through all those tubes...

look up my thread on oil cooler cleaning.

I also have a used one for $45 shipped.

mmmm, unless the fluid is heated uop enough to open the thermostat and the fluid is flushed thru, all you have accomplished is having a bunch of loose crud to immediately flow thru the oil lines as soon as the t-stat(oil) opens

Do yourself a favor and have a certified FAA Oil Cooler Repair facility flush it

Well, you could remove the thermostat before you clean it...

To clarify, you need to remove the thermostat and plug the bypass hole.
