Replace engine
Ok newbie question or what have you, but I need to replace the engine in my rex turbo II. My question is this, can I just replace it with a n/a rex engine or do I need to replace it with another turbo engine?
|
Um, you could replace it with a N/A engine, but why would you want to? You can get a japanese motor for about 1000 bucks. The swap from n/a to turbo (harness ecu ect.) might get kinda pricey.
|
you can...but why would you:D get a used jspec for 850
|
or get it rebuilt, but the used Jspec's are cheaper:)

my car is TII but it was for some reason converted N/A before i bought it
N/A is engine, ECU and passenger side of engine wiring harness flywheel is TII, tranny, diff, clutch is TII It works, but its slow (well....with intake, header, midpipe, Apex'I N1 single, electric fan, no air pump) its not so bad, but i still can`t keep up to stock 88 TII |
You see where im from (here in the woods of ky) i would have to have a jspec engine shipped here. That would cost probably that same amount as the engine would. I dont know if I quite understand what you guys are saying. I just want to replace the engine but keep it turbo. The engine I have now has well over 200,000 miles on it. :(

You need to look for a Turbo engine. The N/A Motors are different and it's not a bolt-up swap. They are talking about Imported Jap. engines because all the 2nd gen. 7s were Turbos. You might be surprised how many options you have when replacing/rebuilding your motor.
Try FC3s.org for a J-spec motor. Cory |
www.fc3s.org thats were you need to go. they have j spec eingines for sale. i live in florida and i got quoted 1075 for the eninge shipped to my door. they are out of california so i would think that shipping might be slightly cheaper since you are closer. the jspec engines should have less than 30k miles on them, and are warentted to have good compression and start. plus the guys down there are super nice and have excellent service
