Repairing gauge cluster

My Turbo II is originally a canadian car. Change holder doesnt hold US coinage and all. I have the original cluster that has KPH as the primary speed rating. But the plastic is cracked and two of the gauges do not work. I would like to repair it and reinstall it to be that car back to its original condition. But where should i start looking into what needs repaired?

should i just resolder all the connections i can? (as much as a pain THAT is) Or is there an easy way to test each gauge without it in the car?

I'd say just toss in a different cluster and see what happens. If you have a known good one you can really see what needs to be fixed. I don't trust stock gauges anyway......I'm sure that didn't help much just my thoughts.

Most of the time when gauges don't work it is the sender on the motor or the screws on the back of the cluster (loosen, then tighten them back up).
