Does anyone know how much it'll cost to get a renesis with a tranny from japan.?? and how do load pictures up here!?

I don't know about Japan. However, I did a search on www.car-parts.com a few months ago and found a Renesis motor for $1900. YMMV

The engine is likely one of the smaller initial costs of this project. There's still the fab work to make it fit, the engine management and the tuning. It's likely you'll be $8K-$10K in the hole before it runs (and all for 238HP).

Just drop a 13btt in it.

I wouldn't argue with anything except the "238HP". Although I haven't followed Renesis upgrades closely, I've been told that getting 280 hp is relatively easy with aftermarket engine management.

The conventional wisdom is that putting in a 13BT or TT is the most cost-effective way to go. It probably is, since used motors and proven aftermarket upgrades are readily available. As you can see in my sig, I've put a 13BT into a 1st gen chassis, so I've been-there-done-that.

With that said, let me be a bit of a contrarian. Putting the Renesis motor in an older car has one attractive feature: no turbo with all of its attendant issues. If I were starting my project today, I would go for the Renesis. Dicking around with intercoolers, wastegates, boost controllers, etc. is a flaming PITA. Having had a couple of stock 1st gens (1979 and 1985), as well as the RXX-7 in its 2-rotor days (stock, then subsequently modded), I REALLY prefer the simpler life offered by a normally-aspirated motor.

Money seems like no object to him..and referring to Cake's respond if he is looking for power and different go 13btt.
