removing this wire???
 

I'm working on getting my engine ready for removal, but I can't figure out how to get this wire out.(in the pic with the green arrows). do I have to remove the intake manifold?? the Haynes manual does not say anything about having to remove the intake maniflod, so I'm getting kind of frustrated. any help would be great.

bro, that is the wire harness, it runs underneath the intake, and you will have to remove the intake upper portion to remove the harness.

Yeah, have fun getting that one out. Luckily I was taking everything out when mine was removed. And luckily I didn't have to put it back in... just had to sit it in the storage shed.

You gotta pull the upper intake manifold to get at those connectors..

OR, you can disconnect the wiring at the ECU and snake it out the dash, which is what I do. But getting at all the connectors is a pain under the dash if you still have everything in there.

If you do opt for the intake removal, go VERY VERY easy on the clips for the injectors.. Very easy to bust the connector. Damn brittle plastic

Yep, you need to pull the upper intake manifold to get to everything that connects to. IMHO it's way easier to remove the harness from the engine - you have to pull the upper intake manifold off of the engine at some point, and it's just as easy to do with it in the car.

On the fuel injector clips - since you have an '86-88 car, there are little metal clips that go around the plug. Unhook them and the connector comes right off. You'll see what I mean.
